My third fangame, containing my first attempts at original graphics. The conceit of the game is that each stage develops from having no graphics and no music to being fully fleshed out in both regards. Other people did not seem overly enthused by the idea even when it was pointed out to them. There are bits of Kant's writing scattered in the game and you encounter a portrait of him during the final boss (which was the first jump refresher-based boss ever to my knowledge.)

Name explanation: The Categorical Imperative was a philosophical notion devised by Kant that supposedly would allow the determination of whether any given action is morally right or wrong once properly understood. There are multiple formulations of things single idea, the text of which appear in the game.

Music kept going silent but other than that a fairly decent needleventure focusing largely on jump refreshers albeit with slightly wonky physics. I would recommend it over I wanna immanentize the Eschaton. Worth it if you like jump refreshers.

This is one of few instances of me reviewing a game without finishing it. I don't know why this was in my 'to play' list other than it being needle and having a cool name.

It's not really clear to me what the main intent or focus of this game is. It's mostly generic needle with very clunky gimmick usage, including invisible trap triggers, light-speed moving spikes, and just an overall sense of unfinishedness or lack of polish. The quotes don't seem, to me, to connect meaningfully to the gameplay in any way, and every stage I encountered was less to my liking than the last. I quit when I got to the boost jump gimmick that gibbed me into a spike at light speed 10+ times in a row.

In general I'm not a fan of gimmicks in needle, so it's possible this type of game is just not for me. Even with that said, the needle that was untarnished by gimmicks I did not enjoy, and the way the gimmicks were implemented felt very straightforward and without nuance.

Would not recommend at present.

Nice platforming with a quite bad boss (It's a jump refresher avoidance, but seems to be pretty much just thrown there, doesn't have anything special. The game would be better without it, I guess). Good-looking, and has some nice music, but the music seems to be free-willed, as it sometimes just stops playing for no reason at all, and then comes back for no reason again.
I don't have much of a reason to not recommend it. The avoidance might be tedious, but it's easy, so you won't have to bother about it for too long.
