One of the very few fangames that actually tries to get away from the misconception that "IWBTG's fangames should use standard physics".
The plot is heavily based on "Flashback: The quest for Identity". It's a very interesting plot, although some of the dialogues could be better. It's kinda sad to know that it's not entirely original, too, fangames nowadays are in a serious need of storylines.
The simple fact that the kid doesn't explode when he dies already shows this game's quality. The animations are very impressive, the different modes for running and shooting are a very innovative (And good) mechanic, and while the game doesn't allow double jumps, you can still control the height of your jump, just like normal fangames, which is always good. You can also create a barrier against enemies' bullets by pressing the 'down' arrow key. Decent visuals and cool musics, there are more foes than just spikes, you have a HP bar...And the best part, there are cutscenes! How many fangames do you recall having actual cutscenes?!
Now for some actual complaints. First off, while I don't really bother with the absurd lenght of some of the saves (The game has to offer some challenge somehow), the absurd lenght of some stages is simply unforgiving. Not only that, but the game gets extremely repetitive after a while. No innovative gimmicks, only some new enemies once in a while that aren't that different from the previous ones...Even if you don't want to use gimmicks, there are other ways to make the game feel less repetitive, such as making different enemies, like helicopters and tanks on the stage with the police, some sort of overpowered bully cyborg on the stage with cyborgs...Anything like that would be cool. Sticking with the same set of enemies from the beginning to the end is boring.
You can activate the full-screen mode with F4, but you can't restore the screen to its original size. Once the game is full-screen, your only choice to bring it back to its original size is closing it and opening the file again.
Also, the visuals could use some polishing. Some of the tiles don't fit very well with the stages, and that's clearly seen in the game.
Finally, where are the bosses? Every time I saw a save near the end of a screen, I expected a boss in the next screen...There never was one. Bosses are an important part of lenghty games, mainly when they have a storyline, as they are a huge source of progression. You can actually feel like you are getting somewhere every time that you kill that extremely strong foe that took you so much effort, and actually is a very important person for the enemy's ranks. Such feeling doesn't exist in this game. All the guys that could be actual bosses are simply normal mobs, aside from the 'Mother Brain'. And even the 'Mother Brain' boss doesn't even have a boss song, it's completely anticlimactic.
It's clearly a game with a huge potential, but there are some things that need to be fixed before it can be enjoyed to its fullest. It's still enjoyable, so I would still recommend it.

This game can be confusing for new players because it has weapon holster mechanics like Black thorne and tomb raider.
also, the last stage(alien planet) is much harder than other stages because there's only 2 savepoints. But the ending with animated cutscene rewarded enough.

maybe this fangame is not for everyone, but at least he tried something different and it's much better than other stupid spike games.
