EDIT: So somehow at some point I ended up with another download of this game in my 'GIMME DAT' folder, and happened to randomly play through it again, all the while not noticing or remembering I'd already done so... it's just as good the second time around. That is all. I am a moron.
This game was adorable, not in any particular aesthetic way (although those are mostly charming throughout, tho a little bland towards the end), but just in the nature of its design: jumps are mostly loose and leisurely throughout, spaced evenly between two saves or so a screen, with the occasional spike (heh) in difficulty, often towards the end of a sequence. I didn't have any problems with any individual sections or saves, and this feels like a perfect game for a beginner ready to transition to slightly longer distances between saves. A fun romp all throughout. Also admirable because it didn't really lose any of its charm throughout a somewhat lengthy playthru, making it all the better if you're looking for something slightly meatier to sink your teeth into. My only sort-of-complaint is that the ending felt a little anti-climactic... the saves were alright, but maybe lacked a sense of proper tension to resolve the game.
