Review based on tourney version and without extra boss.
Overall a fun game with some cool visuals and platforming, bosses beside the 2 avoidances are very whatever tho. However, I reached the colonel in 30 min and spent 1h30 to beat the 2 avoidances that are almost in a row which honestly stole my fun away. They are not particulary bad but they skyrocket the difficulty to a point that they feel out of place.

Most of this game was pretty chill. VVVVVV stage was fine, just learny with it's execution cuz of the whole maximum vspeed when you flip thingy basically. (Although I have not played many games with this gimmick before so I was not used to it). The rest of the game was pretty standard needle, but that's what I like. I also liked the colonel avoidance a lot, it was fun and it fit well for a short tourney adventure game.

The final avoidance is worth talking about since it's what the game is named after. I personally didn't find it very enjoyable, but I think my dissatisfaction came from my frustrations at the start of it which tilted me. The staticy visuals at the start hurt my eyes a lot at first and took a while for them to adjust, and then right after it's this super bright white background that under normal circumstances wouldn't be so bad to look at, but my eyes having a hard time to adjust to the static and then having to adjust again to a bright background made it painful. Maybe it's just because my eyes are more sensitive than others cuz idk if anyone else had this issue, but its not something I can really fix.

Learning the actual avoidance was difficult for me but only because I'm stupid and can't figure things out blind for the life of me, but it's incredibly easy after learning it. Even without my personal visual problems, I also found the avoidance itself to be quite boring since the patterns were just "stand in the safespot, wait, get instagibbed, repeat". I like pattern avoidances that have unique/fun pathing and good visuals, but since this is just a short adventure game avoidance, keeping it simple is fair, but I still feel the gameplay could've been improved without raising the difficulty.

I've only seen the IWT version but I think the changes to the final avoidance in the new version are an improvement. Those being the instagibby floor cherries near the end (which idk if they actually killed or not) are completely removed, and the miku at the end is a lot darker so it's easier to tell that you can go through her. Probably not worth replaying if you already played the IWT version, unless you're planning to speedrun the game.

Decent adventure game, I wasn't too into a lot of the normal stages, but I actually quite enjoyed the final avoidance. I think the reception is a little harsh.

I thought this game was a decent adventure game, but there is a pretty difficult and learny pattern avoidance shoved in right at the end. I came into the game wanting to play an adventure game and not avoidance, so I ended up stopping at that point. Don't really have much else to say - if you're into that kind of thing then you might enjoy the game, but I didn't really. Having said that, the avoidance itself doesn't ruin the rest of the game which is fine.
