I Wanna Be The Guy prided itself on defying convention. In the fangame community, we have spent over a decade making games that reject the norms of game design. Within fangames, I have found a lot of the most creative, interesting, and inspiring games I've ever seen. I truly think that this community is something special, and that we have pushed games as an artform farther than almost anyone else. It's sad to see that despite that, there are still members of the community who insist on this myopic, gatekeeping worldview, where any game that doesn't fit into some preconceived rules should be rejected without a second thought, for no reason than it daring to do something new.
That being said, I Wanna Exit the Red May Hall is a member of the very exclusive group of games that does something I've truly never seen before. It takes a simple medium, and explores it in a way I don't think I ever would've thought of. The game is short, more of a proof of concept than anything, but it still shines with some great ideas, and puzzles that are interesting in their own right. The worldbuilding oozes charm, managing to create a fun setting within a short time frame. CloverFan proved themself one of the most creative developers in fangames with Tanuki's Tail, and they have doubly earned the title with this game, pushing the boundaries of not just fangames, but games as a whole.
Truly, this game is worth checking out by everyone here. Even if you don't care for escape room style games, I find that the concept alone is interesting enough to be worth playing around with for a bit. I found it greatly inspiring, I've had a number of novel ideas for games in the days since playing this.

*Insert here again the joke that txt can't stop me because I can't read*
By the way, no disrespect to the creator, but if this game had a title unrelated to "I wanna", it could easily be a Mario 64 hackrom or an Undertale mod, and the result would be the same lol
