It's a terrible game with terrible bosses, and it's completely broken. The final stage has about 3-5 seconds of lag every respawn because he made it as one big screen. The water is bugged with 1-frame glitch. The platforming is shit, sprinkled in with some generic cheap shot traps. The gimmicks are bad and the music is guy rock.

+Creepy atmosphere
+fair save point placement
+decent length (estimate between 1-3 hours)
-inconsistent difficulty curve
-visuals and music can get annoying at times
-no Kid sound effects
A horror themed needle game of decent length. The platforming is challenging yet fun with the exceptions of a couple of unnecessary precise jumps. As the poor Kid doesn't even have his trustworthy gun, the game uses activatable touch saves. Save point placement is very fair, making for intricate short segments.
Concerning graphics and sound design, the emphasis is clearly on atmosphere. The music gradually deteriorates into eerie noises, clearly aiming to irritate and disturb the player. There are no sounds for the kid jumping or dying at all. The visuals are good but not spectacular, certain backgrounds are a bit too distracting, making it hard to see spikes and platforms.
There are a few jumpscares throughout the game, nothing terribly frightening though.
Gameplay is fairly standard needle fare. The sparingly used gimmicks include vines and various platform jumps. My biggest issue with the game is with balancing. The first areas are well designed in terms of difficulty, later stages however are all over the place: You might frequently go from being stuck on a tricky save for 10-15 minutes to first trying the entire next screen.
If you're an experienced player, Summer Needle has little to offer in terms of original needle but does make up for it thanks to its dense atmosphere. I'd recommend the game to people who like Catharsis, Neurosis and Abducted.

Each room has a different theme made by another person. I'm assuming since there's more themes than creators they made more than one theme. Most of the areas were nice but there were a few bad ones that stuck out like a sore thumb, which I'm also going to assume it was the same person.

Just a mashup of really bad rooms made even worse, for example a save where in the original it was invisible spikes, but in this game it's invisible deadly blocks

While the bosses could be better, the platforming more than makes up for it, considering this game was designed for beginners.

(Right now I'm at the final boss, will update when completed)
Wow. This game has it all, this may be the closest to fangame perfection we will see for a long time. You absolutely must play this game regardless of skill.
The difficulty curve is really well designed, the final stage and boss are quite the step up from the rest of the game IMO, but that's not to say I dislike it, the added challenge will make completing it feel even better.
Just one complaint: Fuck alakazam
Update: Finally got around to beating the final boss, the first phase is probably my least favourite part of the entire game, some annoying attacks followed by a needle gimmick segment that just made me choke a few too many times. The difficulty jump felt out of place, particularly as the second phase was far far easier. The game is still amazing, but be wary that the final boss will take some practice if you are new to fangames.
