This is definitely one of the prettiest little games on Delfruit, sometimes the visuals might be a little too distracting at points but it's easy enough to not make it a problem. It isn't just the visuals though that stand out, it's the theme of "movement" throughout the three stages that add an extra element to the gameplay.

Lots of very fun movements and interesting jump design caused by just using whatever the maker can think of to make the path unique. The way the fruits are used especially lead towards a neat aesthetic people should consider trying.

Really neat game from a visual standpoint, and the game-play is pretty cool alongside it as well. At some point I closed the game to change an audio setting on my device and now the game prevents me from loading back, certainly an interesting design choice but maybe not desirable for people who might crash or something.

Short and fun platforming game with good variety in how the segments play from each-other. Would recommend if you want something that feels fresh.

A fangame that is a bit harder to access than normal, as you'll need either an NES or Famicom emulator, or to buy it on Switch/Xbox One/PC (itch.io). If you do find a way to access it though...
Battle Kid is a metroidvania fangame originally built as a romhack to run on the NES. While the physics aren't the same as what we now consider standard, they still feel very good to play with.
Most screens will only have one or two obstacles to figure out, however saves will generally consist of 8+ of these screens before reaching another, so if long saves aren't your thing, this will be a problem.
Especially as a few of the saves have an issue of having decently learny screens near the end, although the emphasis is on "a few", and not the vast majority.
The bosses are also pretty learny as well, however they also don't have much hp, so on a good attempt they will probably last 30 seconds at most, and in my opinion, were fun to learn with that in mind.
As for the metroidvania aspect, while there are co-ordinates listed for what screen you're on, there is no in game map, so I would recommend noting down paths you see but have not visited while you play otherwise it's possible to have a bit of trouble trying to find where to go next after gaining a new ability.
There is a pc at the start of the game to give you an idea of where to go, however this may not always be helpful to you. To quote/paraphrase one hint I had "The next place is in a subterranean area."
There's also an extra area, which had very fun platforming and felt very much like an IWBTG fangame, but finding it was a nightmare and I personally asked a friend to tell me where the entrance was.
It's to the left of where you get the first key, through a fake wall block.
The in-game pc does have a hint for this (telling you to look for the unusual green background), referring to the green columns that look like a re-textured guy tile from the left path from the entrance, but good luck noticing that early and definitely good luck trying to find it by the end.
Overall I'd say this game is still worth playing even in today's age, assuming you can handle the consistency requirements of longer saves.
Apparently there are two versions of this game (1.0 being the NES romhack and 2.0 being the Switch/Xbox One/itch.io versions), however I only played 1.0. I can only imagine 2.0 improved on the issues I had.
