Regardless of the included exe file:
Visuals Novels are games in which their gameplay consists of clicking or scrolling your scrollwheel to read through text. They may sometimes prompt the player to make choices, but some of them do not. In prior decades there has been debate about whether or not these count as games, but as of 2025 the majority opinion is that that they can be classified as Video Games.
The mark of Video Game does not come from the soul.
Text-based adventure games are games which consist of only ASCII Text. Some of them may use the text to draw visuals, but a lot of early influential titles like Zork did not. Their gameplay consists of the player responding to prompts and descriptions with typing out actions they wish to do. They have always been considered video games.
The mark of Video Game does not come from the look.
It has been established that a game does not have to be an executable to be a video game. The obvious example would be physical media, Cartridges act as circuit boards you plug into the systems, and Discs are raw data being read by a laser in the console. However if you believe those to an invalid comparison due to hardware, then you have Flash Games, which are stored as .swf files. One may argue that this is a different situation as you still need a Flash Displaying executable to run them, however in order to run this .txt file you need a Notepad or another Text Displaying executable, so I believe it to be a mute issue.
The mark of Video Game does not come from the form.
With everything stated above, I view this as a video game.

Definitely has some interesting stuff, however grinding hard saves was not really enjoyable for me, some jumps really do sucks ass. But overall it was... decent? Yeah, probably very fitting word

As someone who has actually uploaded two things that are similar in questionablity, I have to remark that this one doesn't even have the same reflection on fangames that the little PNGs I uploaded had. You could claim they weren't games, but they did atleast relate specifically to IWBTG moreso than this one did. My stance on these kind of uploads is that they aren't often enough to really be worth fighting over, but usually theres atleast some IWBTG-reference in them outside of meta, like a cute kid drawing or just something funny. I guess it's enough to keep on Delfruit atleast, but clearly missing any possible charm it could have had makes it a bit boring.
Other reviews have also made me realize that such uploads may diminish the respect for other games, or lower maker enthusiasm, and I think I'm convinced this is pretty fair. I've considered whoever this was to upload as offering a valuable lesson into such, and will change the ratings on my own similar faux games to share a space with it.
On an aside, maybe we should rename the documents from Read-Mes to something more enticing, the Alice in Wonderland strategy might not always work! Perhaps calling it Game Manual would be more proper, maybe even consider turning it into a proper PDF or atleast a PNG of a decent layout.

¿Have we really reached this point?
Although there is nothing to offer here, ironically there is much to criticize.
How is it possible that on a platform for sharing and uploading FANGAMES (or Engines for creating them), there is something like this? We are talking about a text file that contributes nothing. Not even humor, I want to emphasize. What's more, I consider it a waste of time for anyone who downloads the file (NOT A GAME).
I find it regrettable, sad, and painful that something like this can be uploaded here. Because there are spectacular, wonderful, and beautiful projects that have given thousands of us hours of fun. But then there are these kinds of... jokes? (Incredibly, I don't understand how this has a better rating than some games).
If this was allowed here, it raises the question: What's next? Sketches instead of a game? Abstract ideas in a Word document? Because, of course, if a txt file could be uploaded to this page without any problems, what's to stop what I'm mentioning from NOT becoming a reality? (The “excuse” that there is an .exe telling me to open the txt file doesn't work for me. The examples I just gave could easily be uploaded if the same “solution” is applied: The .exe file).
I'm going to quote a point from the Delicious Fruit Guidelines section:
- “Here at Delicious Fruit, we believe that EVERYONE has the right to GIVE THEIR HONEST OPINION on the games we have in our database”.
I mention this because I am NOT attacking the creators (by the way, it seems that these are alternative accounts, or jokes? Which is... curious? ...I mean, seriously, “Lightning McQueen”?), I am giving my honest opinion. My point of view on what I think the situation is with this particular post.
