For: I wanna escape the Gothic Castle

Escape the Gothic Castle is a pretty game. The amount of work that went into polishing the visuals is truly remarkable, and without a doubt it is one of the flashy and unique looking avoidances out there. However I think in achieving that it really suffered from a readability stand-point. I personally found many of the effects and details such as the lighter bricks in the background, the trail effect during the Autoscroller, the blur/fade effect on the bullet sprites, and even the spotlight at times just created a layer of visual noise between me and the game. I felt I spent more effort and time trying to keep track of where The Kid is and the shape of the bullets then reading how to dodge them, which for an avoidance is really not that desirable.

If you have better eyes then me you'll probably enjoy the game a whole lot. Minus the one attack at the very end of the autoscroller I think the fight is very well designed, I just sadly couldn't get into it due to the reasons I stated above.

An unfinished medley game in development. As of me writing this only stage 1 is available. The platforming consists of needle ranging from blowgame tier to a tier above blowgame tier, some uninteresting screens from otherwise alright games, and screens from a TAS clone that nerfed all the spikes into minispikes. The secret area admittedly had some somewhat more challenging needle, but nothing too amazing. The secret item allows you to access the warp room. The boss of stage 1 is the Gumi avoidance from I wanna be the positive. Most of the attacks are the same with a few nerfs and a few added attacks. The avoidance then cuts to part of a Miku avoidance from biotope (yes, there's an avoidance cutaway in an avoidance) which is, once again, mostly the same with a few minor changes (no checkpoint btw).

I honestly don't see any real appeal in this medley so far. The screens have no major changes to their originals, they lack variety from each other, and they don't flow together in a smooth experience. The boss is also not very interesting and has some questionable design (granted, most of it was copied). I, of course, acknowledge that this is only a beta and that there will be more to this game in the future, but as it stands right now I can't recommend this.

Unpleasant gimmicks and a garbage ending to the final save. The visuals obfuscate the player at times, which was annoying. I'm sure people who really like gimmick platforming (it's really not needle) will enjoy this a lot, though.
