How can someone come up with such bad choices/optimization and not be a 2015 release...
My recommendation for the author is to visit http://klazen.com/IWBTG/tutorial/dev_tutorial.html . I'm sure it's a bit outdated, but at least half of the problems will disappear with a better engine.

Good 32px game, probably one of the easiest ftfa inspired. It's very short but enjoyable, I just think save 2 is by far the hardest of the game and might discourage people to continue if they struggle too much.

Bad avoidance player checking in. The practice warps made learning the second phase so much better than it would have been otherwise. The last half was particularly enjoyable, though definitely much easier than the first half.
There were a few attacks that were made harder by virtue of the visuals, especially in the first half. It wasn't too big of an issue, but it's still something that detracted from the experience, which, overall, was pretty great.
