My least favorite fangame as of now, 99% of the saves in this game use the cheapest and most boring traps to create difficulty and the saves are just so long for no reason. By far the worst part of this game was the Flygon stage, where you couldn't even your hitbox properly so you just had to guess where to jump and the very hard mode felt so punishing to constantly die to the end to. The only reason i'm not giving this a 0.0 rating is that i liked some of the visuals in this game and it had very good production quality

You might ask why I didn’t give it a higher score. That’s because I rated it by indie game standards, even though it was also released on Delicious Fruit.

This is absolutely the worst-feeling platformer I’ve ever played—honestly, it even outdoes Morning Dew’s rocket in that regard. To be frank, if it weren’t for the outstanding art and soundtrack, I probably wouldn’t have even bothered to look at it. But as I progressed, that very “bad” control feel gradually fused with the game’s rich and varied level design, to the point where I forgot how rough it initially felt. Now I can say that this seemingly terrible control scheme is actually the very essence of the game.

Right from the start, the game grabbed my attention with a stream-of-consciousness opening animation. Unfortunately, my English isn’t good enough to fully grasp the meaning behind the fragmented narration. When the animation ends, the protagonist is thrown into a massive open-world map. No one tells you what to do. There’s no guidance, not even a map. Everything relies on your own exploration. You can wander aimlessly, admire the scenery along the way, or simply calm down and listen to the sounds of the world. This is where the game’s second stroke of genius lies: what seems like aimless wandering is actually familiarizing yourself with the map; what feels like pointless exploration is in fact the best way to get used to the controls. I truly have to admire this design—beneath the beautifully wrapped “chocolate coating” of the game lies a deeper core that’s even more worthy of discussion.

It took me about an hour just to get familiar with the map before I truly entered the first real level. That hour of exploration was, I must admit, quite torturous at first. I felt just like the protagonist—a newcomer, a clueless rookie, or perhaps a wanderer far from home. But as I gradually became more and more familiar with the terrain, I realized that this hour mattered far more than I had imagined. And rather than calling it suffering, it was more accurate to call it enjoyment—the game’s art and soundtrack had already told me everything.

I really have to say that the art and music are among the best I’ve ever seen in any IW fangame. The last time I felt something like this was with Morning Dew. The white noise and environmental details constantly remind the player that this is a living, breathing world. When you stop controlling the protagonist, they doze off in place. When you pass through a meadow, the grass bends under the character’s weight. Even random NPCs have their own unique animation sets. I can hear cicadas in the forest, the wind echoing through the valley, and even the noise of the junkyard feels strikingly real the moment I put on my headphones. At that point, my body and mind felt completely merged with the game world. That sense of immersion is something I will never forget.

There is much more about this game that players should discover for themselves. To preserve everyone’s experience, I won’t elaborate further. This is a game worth playing for everyone—and an unforgettable experience in my gaming life.

I really like the almost mini-gamey, avoidancey kinda gameplay that's used in this game. All the sections were really fun, exploring pretty unique concepts. I felt like the grazing avoidance was noticeably easier than the other parts, but perhaps that's a good thing, since it might have the most potential to get annoying. My favorite was the first part, air ice can be awkward, but the small area of movement makes it reasonable to deal with. And moving around to the safe blocks as they come up was just really enjoyable.

The artistry of the game goes without mentioning. It's certainly a very soulful game. I love when people put their heart into games for our little community.

Definitely recommend for fans of gimmicky stuff.

When I first played this game for shortventure, it was a buggy unfinished mess, but it had the core of a really good game. I'm glad I finally got around to playing the final version, because I'm pleased to announce that that core was successfully drawn out.

Unlike Racic's normal gmaes, this one isn't pure traps (not to say they're not still there). There's some fun platforming in the gym, and even a puzzle area. Racic is, as always, insanely creative, and his signature humor is here even in the non-trap stages. The gym shows that he can design cool minigame style platforming, and the puzzle section is simply incredible (even if some of the solutions are a bit bullshit). I mean, the cryptography bit is just super cool.

I have a couple minor gripes with the game, like the trap stage being pretty basic flying objects, and the boot enemies kinda just being bullet sponges you can stay away from. However, the positive aspects heavily outweigh the negative. Definitely a recommendation for a game with fun stages and a great sense of humor.

The game is pretty cool for what it is, but it winds up not really feeling like a magic tower game. The healing pads and softlock free routing remove the resource management and route planning that defines the genre. I know people tend to think softlocks are always bad, but when you allow for save backups, they just become a good fail condition. It's the only real way to have a fail state for a puzzle game like this. When you remove it, the game is no longer a puzzle, since any decision you make will work.

While the framing is fun, the rest of the game kinda boils down to named jumps and repeating basic fights several times. Without puzzling, none of the gameplay was very enticing unfortunately. Still, it was a decent enough time. As others have said, the bullet types were almost all useless. I also felt like for the most part, the health and defense given were enough to trivialize most fights without you needing to put effort into them. The outlier is the final boss, which was much harder than anything else. Having a hard avoidance with bad rng, learny aspects, and no music at the end of this game was kinda frustrating.

Overall, the game is neat, but it lacks anything special to really give it a draw. I unfortunately wouldn't recommend it, and definitely think that it won't appeal to people looking for a normal magic tower game.
