What a game.
The game has 3 files, which already set the tone to the game without even starting it (DeepL translations):
これを読まないで文句言われても困ります.txt -> Don't complain without reading this.txt
使用楽曲について.txt -> About the music used.txt
第三楽章まで耐えた人のために用意している.txt -> For those who made it through to the third movement, we have prepared something special.txt
First file basically gives the standard instructions on the game, and mention that you have to use alt+f4 to close the game.
The second file cites Wikipedia's article about Cage's music piece '4'33', which is the main theme of game.
The third file is an anticipation of '突然のキッド君クソコラグランプリ' ('Sudden Kiddo-kun Shitpost Collage Grand Prix' I guess?), more about it later.
You start the game with the black screen. You click once and seemingly nothing happens, but no, I think you just choose the save slot. Click once again and you will start the game.
You need to enter the portal '帰るなら今のうちですよ？', which translates as 'If you're going to leave, now is the time.'. This is the reason this game's difficulty is 1 instead of 0.
Then you are in a concert hall and the kid starts to 'play' Cage's composition.
Author will show text to indicate when different movements start. The third movement is 'Sudden Kiddo-kun Shitpost Collage Grand Prix', where you will see different Japanese memes, with the kid's face on every shitpost. That was surely unexpected. Wish the 2nd movement had something interesting to offer.
Then you get to the end screen where it is written 'Thank you for listening to 4'33"' and '完成' ('Completed'), and also a reference from some other game with Japanese text that translates as 'You're taking a game like this seriously—what are you doing?'
Also fun fact - in this game you can only hear Guy rock in the title screen, after that it is literally Cage's music piece. You won't even hear kid's movements or the shooting sounds - everything is just a silence.
What an absurd game and what an experience.
Make your own conclusions on whether to play or not this masterpiece of fangame. However, I will give my respect to the author for the dedication to this.
