Pastel is a very varied and interesting game, with a whole bunch of different gimmicks and bosses to occupy your time with. This is of course both a good and a bad thing, with a small portion of the sections being a little lacklustre compared to the stellar and very unique gimmicks elsewhere in the game. On a whole though, it's definitely worth your time.
The game is split up into 3 paths, giving you the chance to start with any you like. Each path has a short needle segment, leading up to a couple of portals, each with their own unique and often clever gimmick and accompanying boss. The majority of these are really well done and cleverly thought out, such as the Waddle Dee co-op segment where you protect your little friend from cyan cherries, or the very well thought-out spike-shooting stage, where shooting blue spikes create water blocks, green spikes allow objects to move through solid walls and so on. The only part I don't really enjoy is the giant climb on the bottom path, whereupon it's just fulljump after fulljump of somewhat awkwardly high spike formations. A weak segment, but not enough to detract from the rest of the game.
Upon beating all paths, you will gain access to the final stage, which is primarily a needle segment with some traps and quirks, before reaching the final boss. This feels like a nice finish to the game, and whilst it would've been cool to see this more gimmick-orientated, I don't really have any complaints. Some of the needle is fairly challenging however, which may cause some players a bit of difficulty.
Gameplay aside, visually and musically it isn't really a powerhouse of a fangame. Restarting music is prevalent and whilst there is a mod to fix that, various songs seem louder than others and a couple of songs aren't the greatest to listen to (I'm looking at you Winky Man). The visuals are also rather simple, but there's nothing really wrong with that.
Overall if you're looking for a game with some really unique and clever gimmicks and interesting design, you'll find it here. Pastel definitely deserves more attention and despite some rough patches here and there, it's a really solid game.

This game is fun even after 11 years release. Have some variety gimmick and good execute, the only dislike is the target practice boss, took me very long to beat.

A long game with a really high level of challenge but never feels unreasonable.
This game is broken up into multiple paths each leading to 2 stages all of which give a much different feel from each other, some in particular have some really creative gimmicks. the bosses are typically short but still provide a good challenge and break up the platforming nicely.

Horrible game overall. The best part of the game is ironically the hub where I have nothing to say about except that it was ok. The stage with the very famous shot spikes has a cool concept but is the least interesting use of those spikes I have seen. The two stages with the waddle dee were horrible, one of the substages gave me some extremely huge headaches, and the other were basically RNG based.
About the bosses, it's where the game shines the most at being the worst. None of them is actually enjoyable : the target one is tedious, the witches ones are stupidely RNG dependent and the rest is borring. I honestly think this is the game with the worst collection of bosses I have played.
I'm honestly very disappointed because I had high hopes with this one, I also forgot to mention restarting music but this is the least of a problem you could have with the game.

Six stages based around various gimmicks, linked together by some hub needle. It's somewhat unrefined, but in a charmingly enjoyable kind of way, and the two Waddle Dee stages are genuinely super neat. The only real bad part is The Climb.
Difficulty is a bit messy, with the pink trigger stage having some especially tricky maneuvers.
