My rating is based on reaching the current "true end" of the game.

The game is influenced by the Magic Tower game. So an important factor of the game is using your keys and HP which you find through out the game, as efficient as you can. If you don't you can softlock your game really easily. The game has a neat backup system to prevent this if you use properly.

The fights in this game start of very slowly and boring. But you quickly realize that the creators really loved to put some RNG into them. And this is also one of my main critics for this game.
Some of the RNG in this game is just unbearable. Of course you try to manage your HP as good as you can and try to avoid any damage in any case. But if you get hit by an undodgable RNG wall or a bullet spawns right into the kid, 3 minutes into an avoidance fight, you can just shake your head. I felt like the creators didn't care for it because you have HP anyway and either you can make it or not, so they can put as much BS RNG into their fights as they want.

It get's especially annoying if you unlock some of the later challenges and try to beat several fights in a row with a limited amount of allowed hits.

Another main critic are the "puzzle" areas in this game. I don't know how you can call them puzzle, if it takes 5 minutes to figure out what to do, and then 20+ minutes to execute them right, because they're full difficult jumps which you usually have to do in a hurry because every "puzzle" has a time-limit aspect.

But anyway, the game offers such a great variety in terms of boss battles, gimmicks and platforming that I would definitly recommend it to more experienced players. You can see how much more thoughts were going into the fights as more you progress into the game. If the creators care enough and would work on the points I mentioned above, I would definitly give this a 10/10.

Not Another Magic Tower Game has easily been the game I have anticipated playing the most since finding the fangame community, it has always lurked over my head as the ultimate goal I'd like to achieve at the end of the line. Now after finally completing this grand journey, I realize it lived up to and beyond my expectations, easily making it one of my favorite adventure games overall.

The level of passion and creativity put into this project is immense, and the amount of content it has is truly overwhelming, it took me 40 hours in order to reach the end. The entire time was riddled with various things to enjoy, mostly coming from the enemies you fight, but sometimes in the form of minigames or secret areas. Enemies are truly the special part of the game though, as each feels like its own boss battle with unique moves and cool interaction. Bosses take this up a notch and challenge the player in creative and unique ways that you will never expect beforehand, the final boss especially stands as one of the most climatic finishes a fangame has ever had.

I do wish to note I have a few issues with the game, hence why I don't give it a straight 10. First, I find a lot of the actual Magic Tower logic to be incredibly skewed due to the implementation of needle jumps and hidden walls, no player should have to suffer a softlock due to not wanting to do a downwards plane (even if it has a setup), and those walls truly are the worst things in the Magic Tower genre in general. Second, a few enemies are truly despicable to play, such as the Skeleton King, most of the bats, and some segments of the bosses. Finally, I just think the amount of Needle in the game should have been toned down, mainly because it ranges from incredibly mediocre to pretty much bad; there are so many secrets and whatnot to do that just get spammed with cancer jumps that ruin the game's main emphasis on action/puzzle gameplay.

In the end, despite some of the shortcomings the game had, I still greatly enjoyed my playthrough. 40 hours in a single week is not something I expect to give another fangame in a very long time, so let that be a testament to what a journey this has been. I would highly recommend this, though on the condition you consider using Igzicorus and Paragus' guides to prevent silly softlocks from faulty logic implementations. Shoutouts to Emmanating as well for assisting me in Yaranaika and 3bt.

Oh, and here's my personal tierlist of the enemies in the game! https://i.imgur.com/YwWlGF6.png

I've played this game all the way through multiple times and I have to say it's one of my favorites ever. I'm not going to go into extreme detail as others already have, but I just want to say that this is an absolute must-play for anyone who wants a very long adventure game with a huge amount of variety. I'm of the camp that the experience is better with a guide for the first 10 floors, but the game is certianly enjoyable as a blind playthrough. If I had one major complaint, it would be that the first boss, Light/Yaranaika, is easily one of the worst parts of the game and serves as an early roadblock given how difficult it is, since it's positioned in a way that you can't do it with the shield powerup when using your keys optimally, if at all. It's manageable on a normal run but damageless is easily one of the hardest bosses. Honestly though everything else is good enough to compensate for it, so I maintain my near perfect rating. No matter what you enjoy, there will be something for you here, from needle to avoidance to puzzles and just about anything else. Highly, HIGHLY recommended.

Extremly unique and fun, few fangames can replicate the feeling of a journey quite like NAMTG does. If only you couldn't softlock and some of the fights were changed to be fairer, NAMTG would not only be a 10/10 from me, but maybe it would be more well known and liked around the community. I really hope more unique fangames can pop up soon. Don't get me wrong, I like CN3-like needle just as much as the next guy, but to me, nothing beats the feeling of a journey through a well-made adventure fangame, even if that said fangame isn't even close to being perfect, and NAMTG nails that feel perfectly.
