Hey! This is the (finally) finished version of the Shortventure game I made for the 2023 Shortventure Event!
I'll ramble a bit later, but included are a "solutions.txt" file and a "Cryptogram Solver" spreadsheet which will make a lot more sense once you get playing. ;)
The theme of the event was "resources", and while the in-game tie-in to the theme was.. a bit of a stretch, I also took the opportunity to look at the theme from a more meta standpoint and, for the most part (aside from the music which I pulled from purple-planet), all of the game's non-default resources (audio, sprites, backgrounds, etc) are all done by me! :D
It's quite a departure from my normal stuff, but I'm really proud of how it turned out. I realize it may not be for everyone, but as long as some people enjoy it, that's fine by me.

Such a fun and neat shortventure game great for beginners. Can't wait to see where Racic takes the An Appreciation Universe.

When I first played this game for shortventure, it was a buggy unfinished mess, but it had the core of a really good game. I'm glad I finally got around to playing the final version, because I'm pleased to announce that that core was successfully drawn out.
Unlike Racic's normal gmaes, this one isn't pure traps (not to say they're not still there). There's some fun platforming in the gym, and even a puzzle area. Racic is, as always, insanely creative, and his signature humor is here even in the non-trap stages. The gym shows that he can design cool minigame style platforming, and the puzzle section is simply incredible (even if some of the solutions are a bit bullshit). I mean, the cryptography bit is just super cool.
I have a couple minor gripes with the game, like the trap stage being pretty basic flying objects, and the boot enemies kinda just being bullet sponges you can stay away from. However, the positive aspects heavily outweigh the negative. Definitely a recommendation for a game with fun stages and a great sense of humor.

Straight up the best game by Racic I have played (second to the christmas gift he made for me cus im biased). Fun story, fun voiceacting, great humor, a whole center area that connects all of the unique stages. The puzzle stage is insanely cool as well, and the hints are enough to get everyone unstuck if the logic goes too crazy (it kind of did for one of them for me lol), I was really surprised. Great job!
