A journey of several needle screens that had some great saves and saves that were not so fun. The music and visuals are amazing and helps the game feel like going into several landscapes. I had a decent time going through the needle section, but it gave me mixed emotions going through each screen.
But after all the tough needle is the avoidance. I really wish I liked it more. It starts great, but after the falling wave of red bullets, it gets quite boring and makes the first half of the avoidance unfun. The aimed part is pretty creative tho... Second half is better, but can wall you if your not careful. Didn't like the last three SpaghttiO attacks. It was the hardest part because of how fast the bullets were compare to the rest of the avoidance. It was a mix of good and bad that I wish was made a little more creative with the attacks. Song was at least a banger.
I would recommend this game if your up for the tough needle. If your reading skill is real good, you can try the barrage.

Haystack 2 is technically a buff of CN1, but the reason I wouldn't call it that is because, for starters, it's easier than CN1, and secondly, it feels more like an exhibition of ideas rather than a proper 25f needle game. With all games that end up like this, it's hit or miss, but there's far more hits than misses. The needle style is very creative to it's benefit, and there's a lot of really standout moments, you aren't gonna forget the whole game by the time you beat it. The difficulty is kinda all over the place, but there's never any super egregious spikes as the game is somewhat consistent throughout (with a few totally free saves) Overall a solid game, definitely worth playing at some point.
Update as of May 26th 2025: I massively underappreciated this game when I first played it. I think in a lot of ways this game is a look into what needle would become in the following years, and it stands on it's own as an incredibly impressive game. It's just oozing with personality and I can safely say on a replay I enjoyed every part of the game. It's just so creative and that ability to make something without fear of how strange the idea will seem is exactly what makes fangames so incredible. The game is definitely rough around the edges but the concepts and gameplay are absolutely top notch as far as I'm concerned. I truly believe this is one of the most important needle games ever made.

I think this fangame is art, I am unable to express through words how much joy I felt when I heard a Saya No Uta track start playing! The atmosphere is incredible, and the non-linear gameplay fits incredibly well with the atmosphere.
I would like to mention that this review is rather subjective since I personally have created something very similar in the past with a very similar atmosphere and vibe. (Even using some Saya No Uta music myself) Absolutely amazing fangame 10/10 made my week!

Good short adventure with strongly designed bosses and awesome trap-heavy platforming. Atmosphere reminds me of REBELLION, and in a similar way i wish that Hibikusuku can be longer
