Was kind of a dick but I’m really trying not to be anymore.
If you are one of my followers from my vtuber activities and are googling me, hi.
I am primarily a needle player but I still really like adventure and avoidance.
My rating system works like this.
I only grade by .5s a majority of the time.
10: This fangame is irreplaceable. There is no other fangame that does what it does as well as it does in my opinion.
9-9.5: Absolute Must Play
8-8.5: Recommendation
7-7.5: Light Recommendation
6-6.5: More positive sentiments than negative.
5-5.5: Mixed bag or no strong feelings.
4-4.5: Inoffensive and unremarkable. (Or a decent shitpost)
3-3.5: Do not recommend. (Or an okay shitpost)
2-2.5: Not good! (Or an unfunny shitpost)
1-1.5: Don’t play it. (Or a bad shitpost)
0-0.5: This game is either not worth your time in any way or morally objectionable.
Anything above a 5 I had an overall positive experience with.

For: I wanna end your life
So, as a bit of a preamble, I have really bad reaction time/processing speed. It is something that has been diagnosed by a doctor. I'm like 97 percentile in a bunch cognitive of areas but around 35 percentile in processing speed. This is a boss that absolutely requires you to not only be plugged in at all times, but also has a lot of attacks that require instant reactions, and will punish you if you're off by one frame. There is also a massive element of luck involved in this boss. Some attacks don't allow you to damage him at all. In-between attacks his position rapidly switches and you might not get much damage off before he starts up another one. Some allow you to get massive damage but only if he stands in the correct position. Some give you massive damage but also can screw you over with attacks very few people can actually react to. A lot of this fight is putting yourself in the correct position so that you can have the most amount of time to react possible. It is extremely luck-based even with that. That doesn't mean it isn't fun, but it means that sometimes you will go for long periods of time without a good attempt because he just isn't giving you attacks with good damage potential.
I don't really know how to feel about this fight. It is extremely cool, quite frantic, and genuinely satisfying to play, but it's also pretty bullshit. Even on my clear attempt I got extremely unlucky with him giving me the ultimate final attack TWICE. I think that if you want to play this, you should treat it pretty casually. It's a learny fight despite how random it is; to the degree that you won't exactly understand how to play just from watching. If you do want to play, I'll give you an attack by attack rundown of how *I* personally did each of them.
PHASE 3 PART 1:
General strategy:
Stay in the left column unless an attack comes that forces you to go to the other ones. This positions you in the best spot to react to the pickles and unicycle attack. Before the first attack, chase after what row he's in for damage, but afterwards, use your discretion since he moves quicker. I chose to just stay in the center row and hope he walked into my attack. He will also never do the same attack twice in a row.
Unicycles:
You cannot damage him during this attack, but it is pretty straightforward. Generally speaking, it's better to start this attack in the center left square, but its a timing you'll get the feeling for pretty quickly and be able to do no matter what.
Pickles:
Stay on the left column and focus on standing in the row where you can damage him when possible. The reason you stay in the leftmost column is the diagonal bullets can't hit you no matter what. You generally want to read where the yellow spots that spawn bullets are from rather than the bullets themselves. This attack also has the potential to wall you but most of the time won't actually, even if its really difficult. You'll probably hate this attack at first, but be glad to see it later as its one of the better attacks for actually dealing damage.
Fakeout explosion:
Get out of the row he's standing in and move to the right column as quick as possible. It's probably the most free attack in the whole fight, and it's good to see because it means you get basically a little bit more free damage.
Crashing Shuttles:
This is for me the least consistent attack in the fight, but not because it's unfair. It just requires you to react SUPER quickly. Get to the center tile as it gives you the most time to react, and always go diagonally if possible. Even if you just find yourself completely unable to process the attack, there is a 50% chance you will survive if you move diagonally towards a corner in any direction. Return to the center afterwards. This will go on for 5 rounds before the attack is over.
Killer Queen:
The first round he will basically pick a square. Memorize it because that's your safe spot should he choose to do killer queen again before the 2nd half. You can get a free 20 damage or so from part one. The second time he does killer queen, every tile except the one he didn't highlight the first time will explode. If you make it to the 2nd half, go to the rightmost column as all of those tiles will not be trapped, and you can get some extra damage.
Arrow explosions:
This attack *is* super consistent, and if he picks the middle row to start the attack, you can get a ton of damage, but it takes a while to get the timing and has a pretty steep learning curve. Don't focus on dealing damage, just focus on surviving. Move to the center tile, and go to the tile on the opposite end of the arrow. The rhythm is one two three for the explosions. Move back to the center very slightly after the two count. It takes a while but once you have the muscle memory you don't lose it.
Bombs:
This attack is dumb and bullshit!!! It is by far the most problematic attack in the fight to me, but also has the most potential for damage. The attack will spawn in bombs that kill you if you're standing on the same tile where they spawn, and are also hard to react to. They can explode orthoganally or diagonally after spawning in, and will aim at you. The bomb spawn is random but the explosion is aimed. I did not know this until after clear and Cosmoing pointed it out to me and now I am upset. Generally it's better to get out of range from both as it leaves out a potentially extremely tight reaction window. You can also just get cornered and have no way to escape though and just die. It happens super often.
PHASE 3 PART 2:
General strategy:
Once he gets below 200 hp, no matter what, he will absorb 3 tiles and give the space to you. This also counts as an attack, so if you got one attack before reaching this, you could get the same one again, so watch out for that. Generally still stay in the leftmost column and like don't choke.
Unicycles:
Stay in the center row left column between each round. He will go in 2 rows at once rather than staggered, so staying in the center gives you the most time to react. Still pretty straightforward.
Fakeout explosion:
Same as before. Get to the rightmost column. It's a little harder since you technically have more inputs before the explosion goes off, but it's still good when you get it as it's pretty free.
Crashing shuttles:
Start at the same tile you started in in phase 1. There will always be at least one safe tile in the starting 3 grid on this version of the attack. It's more random but you can definitely power through if you clutch. For me this attack almost always meant the end of the attempt.
Killer Queen:
If the explosion happens at this point and the first half was already started, go the rightmost column. If he starts the attack up, still pay attention, but I never once had an explosion of every tile go off during my time playing this fight.
Bombs:
Pray! Same general strategy but the bombs are even faster. It's the best attack for damage, but you still don't really want it because of how dumb it is.
Super omega fuck you reaction check mudamudamuda etc:
His sprite will change before you hear the sound cue so react to that. Move diagonally, but have your vertical input be the first. Be on the lookout for it because if you get caught off-guard you WILL just instantly die, and you will probably die even if you know it's coming because it's a raw reaction test.
Final:
He can do final at any point. It's possible to win without getting a final, but he probably will do it anyways. On my winning run he did final twice. It's super fucked up to learn at the end of a fight like this. Basically, he will telegraph 8 explosions he will do, and will do one explosion on each column. The explosion will never be on the same tile within that column twice in a row. Count to 8 in rhythm with the explosion telegraphs. Move out of the way on the number you count on.
So for me I would say:
1
2 (move)
3
4
5 (move)
6
7 (move)
8
Then i would move in accordance with the rhythm. It was the only way the attack was possible for me and I actually preferred getting this to bombs later on because it's more consistent. After you get through, you can deal a solid 70 damage or so before he gets up again. If you're lucky, he'll die during this period or shortly after.
So yeah, End Your Life. One of the most fucked up bosses I've ever beaten. I enjoyed my journey. It's a unique fight, but it definitely appeals to only a specific type of player. I got pretty mad at the RNG at times but attempts go by so quickly that it didn't matter all that much. It's fun!

For: I Wanna Be Doing The Laundry With Geezer
This was a nice self-contained sudoku-style game that's self-aware and scratches just the right itches for the zany concept. I have no idea why this game was made but frankly that makes it better in my eyes.

For: RNG Dungeon
I don't know how to talk about RNG Dungeon. I am a filthy needle player. I don't *dislike* adventure/avoidance, in fact I would say I like them, but I know my comfort zone and until recently I mostly stuck to it. I'm definitely not the target audience for this game. Now, normally that isn't really a problem for me, but with this game in particular it feels almost wrong to talk about. RNG Dungeon is so clearly designed for a specific type of person that it almost just tells you to fuck off and die if you don't fit that mold.
It doesn't do that, but it is absolutely in character for the developers, and I would be laughing my ass off at my own expense if they did. Cthaere's own developer thoughts talks about how RNG Dungeon is "a game where the mask is half on, half off." I think this is an incredibly apt description of this game's ethos and design philosophy. The in-jokes and ideas are so off the wall and stupid that I can only imagine the amount of 3am insomnia-ridden nights that led them to put in half the content in this game. I think if it were only the dumb jokes, this game wouldn't have the same value to it. As unhinged as some sections get, there is an amazing design-first element of restraint that separates this from most other weaker meme-fests.
I imagine the thought process for RNG Dungeon was something like this:
1. Is it funny?
2. Can we make it cool as fuck?
If it fulfills at least one of those two categories, with the second one being given a heavier weight, it got put into the game, then polished as much as possible without losing the core of the idea.
With that said, I don't enjoy every idea. I think RNG Dungeon does a lot of really interesting things with its abrasive nature and disregard for people outside of their narrow audience, but there were a couple sections which I found myself having difficulty even appreciating in that context.
The biggest losers for me with this game were the Squid Game fight and small parts of the final boss second phase. Squid Game feels like a bit of a luck fight, which isn't even that big of an indictment on the game. There's another pretty big luck fight in this game with the "Fortnite Cube Kevin" boss (God I sound so deranged out of context.) What kills me with Squid Game is that so much of the hard to learn/somewhat luck based elements are at the very end. You are asked to apply an unfamiliar gimmick at a very high level in a way which the platforming beforehand just doesn't prepare you to do. It's also lowkey one of the hardest bosses. I spent more time on it than the first phase of the final boss. It's legitimately a big sour spot for me and kind of blindsided my early experience with the game.
My problems with the final boss comes down to information overload. It is a much learnier boss than everything else in the game, and I think it puts a heavy amount of time into the spectacle of it all. The song chosen is supposed to make you feel like you're in a fucked up carnival, and given everything you went through in the game up to this point, that is a perfect mood-setter. The fact that it's so learny compared to the rest of the game is a pretty big deterrent for some people, but given that I am not amazing at avoidance compared to needle, this felt par for the course for me. Once I started getting attempts to the easier to understand second half with some amount of frequency, my problems with the boss began to show up. There's a section involving color-switching in particular that just completely overloaded my brain. There's so many things I needed to focus on that I would keep accidentally hitting a bullet my brain had tuned out, and as such the fight became a matter of if this one 5 second attack halfway through the fight would let me through. You can absolutely call this a skill issue, but for me this tests your skills on a level disproportinate with what was expected of me both throughout the game and within the rest of the boss itself.
I didn't really even think I was capable of beating this game. I told myself that my skill level just simply wasn't high enough. I wasn't patient enough, and I would never be able to close things out. Despite that though, I pushed through. I think I was rewarded for that in spades. The platforming in this game is some of the strongest I've experienced. It is challenging without being too much or overshadowing the bosses. Every save has a new idea and it goes just far enough with it that I feel like I got a good experience without being overwhelmed. The bosses, despite myself not being an avoidance player, make me feel like I'm actually pretty good at them. Every boss save for the ones I mentioned feel like a condensed challenge that has the appeal of all the hardest boss fights without feeling entirely insurmountable. I feel the level of polish here.
I am not the target audience. I think sometimes I'm a bit simple. I like needle because it is just viscerally satisfying to play. Avoidance for a long time has been something I've enjoyed, but which I never expected to get decent at, and that's partially because of how engaged you need to be when playing. You can't just turn your brain off when playing avoidance in the same way you can when going through the motions of a needle save. I am not properly equipped to appreciate all of this game's intricacies and special moments. I respect it though, about as much as I think I am capable of doing so at this time.
Please keep going. This is what fangames exist for.
