Mild flashing lights on the second yellow stage, but the visual challenge is otherwise not that annoying
I had a blast playing this, the needle is really satisfying, production value and atmosphere are cool, great bosses, and I loved almost every individual stage. I'm still a bit scared of one-screen saves, but the ones in Hell are the right length, neither too grindy nor a walking simulator. The one screen I didn't enjoy much is the cherry circle cannon screen, which starts with an air gate and felt like forced waiting before each jump, but the rest is excellent.
Highly recommended for all gimmick needle enjoyers!

A brilliant work of dark atmospheric needle with plenty of stages, each with their own gimmick. I enjoyed almost everything in the game, bar the final save since it's normally a mechanic I don't actually like, and the last boss had a few visibility issues for me. The needle itself is really good, some of the best I've played actually, so I think it's definitely worth playing it for such. This rating is based off the "Bad End", since I didn't really care to do an avoidance rush which is at the end of True End. Despite those names, they're actually separate routes entirely that branch from a point, so either can be seen as an actual ending (view Kurath's review in the spoiler tag to find out how to reach each).
Also, despite the visual_challenge tag, it's worth noting that nothing should be specifically seizure-inducing, there's just some room rotating and dark bullets / dark background in boss shenanigans going on. Would definitely recommend giving it a try.
This was pretty fun, would recommend.

I wanna leave this hell is a needleventure game that feels very dopamine inspired.
The platforming is really good. Every stage has some cool gimmicks and visuals, that fit the overall theme very well. Later on there's some visual challenge involved, i could see some not liking it, but it was where the game felt like a 10/10 for me. The hope the end of gimmick was a pleasnt surprise and the other two stages there feel like a fever dream.
The reason it's not actually a 10 is cause the bosses feel a bit lackluster. One is too easy and the other has some iframe issues.
Overall very strong game with some fixable annoyances in the boss department
Update 0.91 edit: upped the rating 0.1 point cause the final boss is fixed and the first boss got buffed. Some small buffs also make some of the choke jumps less annoying.

I mean, it's honestly just an incredible gimmick needle game. Randy is one of my favorite needle makers, despite being better known for his avoidances. This game is the most needle focused of his adventure series, with only a couple bosses (and an avoidance rush on the true end path).
The needle is really fun, even the gimmickless parts (like the trigger needle stage was one of my favorites). It flows well, has a lot of fun ideas for jumps, and is very well balanced. Another favorite of mine was the final stage of bad end, where there's a new gimmick each screen. However, I do think the yoshi screen here was the weakest screen in the game. This yoshi implementation felt slightly jank and buggy (you would sometimes full bounce even when not holding jump).
The couple bosses in the main path were really fun, having to go around shooting apples is always a fun way to design a boss. Plus, the tiny story going on elevates the already really strong aesthetic.
The true end path was pretty good, and I didn't think the avoidances were nearly as bad as some people are claiming. They are a bit tricky if you're a needle focused player, but they weren't too bad for someone like me, who's usually not great at avoidance. I do think that this path being just a medley of old content left it feeling a bit less interesting than the new content, so overall I prefer the bad end.
Despite my couple minor nitpicks, I really loved this game. The needle is phenomenal, and the aesthetic is really put together. It's a really fun game, and one I can easily recommend.
