Not sure why this game receives so much hate - its a solid platforming experience and exactly what you'd expect. I feel like it does things well, but definitely doesn't do anything so ambitious as to warrant such praise or revile as some reviews demonstrate. If you don't like boss fights, this is definitely a great game to play as it eschews them in favor of more platforming. The flow isn't always perfect but it was a fun playthrough basically the whole way.
The one thing I definitely feel would be a huge improvement is removing the random gimmick from the final boss platforming stages as it generally just ruins the experience, introduces an incredibly tedious level of RNG. Once I found out about the glitch to get past it, the boss felt so much better.

This is an incredibly well built game from start to finish. One of a few fangames that would be worthy of being a commercial product. Sound, visuals, design are all excellent and it manages to maintain a good balance of difficulty, always keeping it interesting without feeling grindy.
