Rating is average of stages. Didn't play the avoidance and probably won't, though if I do, I will update this review.

Distortion: 6/10. Cool dopamine-esque vibe on this stage especially. The needle is decent, though parts of it were a bit too precise imo.

Venereal Cessation: 6/10. Cool style in this stage. The platforming is alright, though some jumps (especially in the first screen) are way too precise. Everything after the first screen is fine aside from a stray questionable jump. The pathing and ideas here are really cool though. I'd like to see Syfactor make hard stuff that feels a bit more lenient than this.

Flesh: 8/10. Fantastic work from Nogard. The song is great, visuals get the job done (though not my favorite.) The needle was the most fun in the game, and was typically very well executed, aside from one or two saves that felt like they were intended to be annoying rather than difficult (the CliffJump with minispikes on the underside especially.) Good stuff.

Separation: 1/10. The only reason it's not a 0 is because the visuals and music are incredible. I wouldn't recommend anyone this game for this stage alone.

Satisfaction: 7/10. When I talked to wonderful about this stage, she said it was probably substantially easier than the rest of the game. I'm not so sure that I agree. This stage, though very brief, felt a bit harder than Nogard's area overall, probably. I dunno, it's hard to judge considering the length and how different the styles are. The atmosphere was good and fit for an ending.

epic style

For: I wanna be the Descry2
Surprisingly (And sadly) atrocious adventure. The structure is very similar to the first Descry: Starts with a main hub of 4 stages, once you beat those you unlock more stages (2 in the first, this time it's 4), and once you beat those new stages there's only the last stage left.
Every stage has a name, which means I can reference them by name, so I will. The first four stages are mostly alright. Mountain is just simplistic, needle-ish platforming with a couple traps here and there. It's fun, and also happens to be the best-looking stage in the game. Trap is, well, it's a trap stage. Duh. It's a massive mixed bag, with some saves resembling Metamorphosis closely followed by bundles of generic traps. One thing it loves to do is repeating the same trap twice, which is funny once or twice, but not when it happens in literally every save throughout the whole stage. Wasn't a huge fan of it, but it's not horrendous (I mean, when literally every save does it, you start expecting it). Fantasy is a puzzle stage. It makes use of an interesting gimmick, but doesn't quite do a lot with it. It's still an alright stage. Finally, FaSheep is a medley stage. Apparently, it just borrows a lot of screens from I wanna Kill the Maker and nerfs them. Compared to IWKTM, or the extra medley stage in Descry 1, they are actually decent, I guess. Just some simplistic needle.
The next four stages are a mixed bag, but boy, would I not put my hand inside that bag. Rock is just a nice needle stage with moving spikes and infinite jumping later on. Poor thing. Sky is an easier trap stage that probably should be in the first half of the game, trading places with Trap. Kinda generic, but there are so few traps it doesn't matter that much. Then, there's the Pokemon stage. It feels like an attempt to emulate Tsuta's style, and is the perfect example of how to not do so. It's pretty generic, recycles the few funny traps that might show up and the Pikachu save is the most tedious thing I've done in a while. Has a few elaborate(?) traps here and there. Black and White is an abomination. It's a chaotic combo of spikes that appear whenever the maker feels like, backtracking and traps that might be funny or not. Doesn't really matter when you run into a "backtrack spike" every 5 steps. The stage is also ridiculously long, and way harder than the other stages up until now, which makes it all the more atrocious.
Finally, once you make it past that abomination, there's ANOTHER medley stage. This one is more like the Permanence type of medley, so it borrows whole stages and redesigns them. Except that the maker does a pretty bad job here. Lovetrap is just mediocre platforming, same as the original Lovetrap. IWBTG is hilarious. The maker forgot to make hitboxes for quite a few obstacles, so you just don't die to them. Ever. Otherwise, it's a mostly generic trap stage with one or two noteworthy traps. Fangame is probably the most decent out of the four. Ignoring the "only cherry in this game" save, anyway. Traps are more elaborate, including what I would consider the funniest trap in the game (Which isn't saying a lot, but oh well). Magnanimity is kinda decent too. It's still a generic trap stage, but with vine jumps, platforms, moving enemies and better visuals. Also, there aren't that many traps. It's too short to be anything, though, and fake blocks that don't disappear leave a pretty bad impression.
Oh, there is still a boss after the end of each stage. Some of them are nice, on par with the first game, while others lean closer towards mediocrity, with a more limited set of attacks and no particularly interesting mechanics to speak of. The main difference, however, is the last boss, which is still an avoidance, but incredibly lame. It looks like a medley boss on the surface, but in reality it's just an excuse to cramp all the generic attacks we all know from other avoidances into a single boss. Many of them aren't even remotely similar to the original bosses. And the music choice is just...No.
Basically, the first half of the game is nice, and Rock Stage and Sky Stage are pretty decent too. Past those, however, there's no reason to continue playing. In particular, there's no reason to even consider playing Black&White. Ever.

Side note: There are some extra items to collect, one per stage. I don't really know if collecting them does anything.
Side note 2: Once you clear the game, there's a portal section that leads to any stage of the game you wish to go. You better not save anywhere, though, because if you save outside the portal section, you can't go back to the clear screen. The last boss' item won't appear, which means you can't get to the credits again and you'll never have access to the portal section again. Good testing.

Surprisingly fun needle-y adventure game with decent visuals and a single boss at the end. Some of the platforming is pretty unbalanced, and the final boss design is highly questionable, but it was enjoyable overall. There are optional secrets in every stage that unlock separate extra screens with """insane""" needle. Don't think it is really worth going for a full clear because the design of the extra stuff is a bit ehhh.

Would probably recommend, but it's nothing I feel you need to go out of your way to play.

Note: the final boss has 2 signs near the warp. The left sign allows you to skip the shoot phase and skip straight to the ending barrage which consists of screenshake and potentially awful RNG (I personally recommend doing this because getting bad RNG after the long shooting phase is pretty painful). The right sign allows you to change the "atmosphere" of the boss, AKA making the sprites white instead of black so that they are more visible (I also recommend turning this one on).

This was kind of a mess.
The upwards double planes would be possible with two aligns, but the 3-pixel visual indent between them is actually just 2 pixels in reality, so you can only do the save with one align.
Furthermore, the platform collision with spikes is bad so you basically have to do saves 6 and 7 in a row with an awkward platform jump.

Otherwise easy or moderately hard needle.

For: I wanna get crimsoned 2
Crimsoned 2 is a very solid 50-floor needle game, using the visuals/flow of Cultured 2 alongside Piece's creative needle style making for a pretty challenging but enjoyable experience.

Throughout the 50 floors, there's a very noticeable difficulty increase which feels mostly well done, with only a few sore spots in difficulty being noticeable. The needle stays mostly vanilla although there's the odd usage of vines, water and perhaps some other traditional gimmicks on rare occasions. A couple parts near the start of stage 5 feel a bit bumpy in comparison to the end of the stage, which seems to have been caused by nerfing some early-version hard spots. It never felt designed in an unpleasant or unfun sort of way, so I enjoyed it regardless.

Despite each screen making use of a background/tileset from Cultured 2, the actual needle doesn't appear to be influenced with perhaps the exception of a couple screens here and there. It would've been cool to see things like the SSR2 screen have Rukito-esque triggers or the Forehead screen have the jump-changers, although that would stray away from a needle game and moreso a custom-medley-of-sorts, but it's an interesting what-if.

Each stage is also capped off with the appropriate boss from Cultured 2, only with HP. They make for a nice break and the HP ensures you won't be stumped for too long. Oh, and the boss visuals (and all screen titlecards) are custom-drawn by Piece which is a pretty cool addition. I imagine a fair amount of time went into Crimsoned-ifying all the graphics and it just makes for a nice finishing touch.

Overall a solid needle game that definitely picks up the challenge towards the end. Would recommend.

For: I wanna go 100 Layers Downstair
This game is largely defined by one word: repetitive. In what way? Every way.

Production wise, its a 100F game. It has one song and one tileset and one background. None of these ever change.

Level design wise, it has one layout. Every room is the same block layout around the outside (except for the last one which is double wide, whoa!). It has a few glimpses of creativity to make this not the most tedious thing ever but only a few.

Needle design wise, it has 5 jumps. You do gates, corners, 16px, diagonals and nudge walkoffs (when a spike is over the walkoff 16px up so you have to tap it or you die. This is actually so rampant in the game and so unfun to play that you look forward to the screens that are just 10+ diagonals in a row) This comprises a solid 80-90% of jumps in the game. And when it changes it, it actually gets worse. Every few floors you get treated with something terrible. Like a double jump ceiling diamond with a corner before and after it. Or a squished diagonal. Or a super F. Every layout is the same and its always going down so you'd expect some shots at interesting drops but they're rare. Its a lot of corridor needle where you go down instead of up between corridors. It also has quite a number of trigger screens but these are almost entirely just to make you go back and forth in the small space so that the save is longer - and comprises of more of the same jumps over and over.

There's a few fun spots but its mostly just bad. As with the style, its mostly easy at the start and gets harder (goes from doing vstring drop corners/diagonals to actual drop corners/diagonals), getting pretty tough at the end though not in an interesting way. Can't really recommend this to anyone for any reason.
