This is a faithful remaster of the original I Wanna Be The Guy, aiming to balance the spirit of the original game with the desire for consistent physics like the fangames that came after while fixing some of the jank.
This was created using Yuuutu engine in Game Maker 8.2, and has been prepatched with gm8x_fix (https://github.com/skyfloogle/gm8x_fix). The source code has been included (GM 8.2).

Cleaned up sprite scaling

Button remapping
Separate volume sliders
Smooth 50FPS and Vsync option

The quintessential way to experience the original I Wanna be the Guy. The game experience is identical with a mountain of polish that isn't shoved in your face, but instead complements the game and ensures you aren't going to be crashing every 15 minutes. There's a bunch of bonuses too and cute little easter eggs scattered throughout to reward exploration, and even something nice to reward collecting all the secrets! The team really did as great of a job as you could hope for with a fangame remaster.
Plus if you really really reaaaally miss the crashes, don't worry. You can turn that back on as well. Relive that 2008~ experience...

first playthrough? stuck at tyson, then suddenly the rest of the game was accessible, and so much fun. and i have only enjoyed it more on the following rebeats. my time is currently 38m19s and i really enjoyed every moment of gameplay after i understood how to defeat tyson. i played the original after this and i can say this is what everyone should be playing, simple as that. :)

Awesome remake of the original. You can really see the hours of dedication and care put in by the team behind this remake. Special rewards for completion along with plenty of homages to the original game make this a delight for oldtimers and new players alike, Highly recommend!

The original, as far as adventure games go, it's got a very good atmosphere and vibe, feeling like a true journey across a vast world with nonsensical happenings. I think the core gameplay has aged quite well with notable exceptions like the Tetris section and the Clown Car Trio, but the Remaster really seals the deal and brings everything to the modern age, without all the grievances that hinder the original on the technical side. It's influence can not be understated, and it's definitely still a great game, and worthy of everything it spawned.
