It's a decent game that is visually impressive as hell, but with gameplay that declines each stage and as the years go by. There's a good level of creativity to be felt from the starting stages of the game, but as each goes on it starts to look more like someone's bad Jtool Needle, with the final stage being a good example of just making everything harder at the sacrifice of good gameplay. It's generic, boring, and feels completely lifeless compared to the other stages.

It does have some good things, such as the ability to do needle screens over bosses, which I greatly appreciate due to how many avoidance this has. That's also a gripe too, why is the worm boss one you can actually fight normally whilst everything else only has an avoidance and no fighting to it, it feels like a feature you wanted to have originally but did a 180 on and it really made the game less enjoyable for me.

Finally, I'm not a big fan of the final boss either, at all. Unlike every other boss in the entire game, you cannot skip it, and not knowing you will be forced to fight him means you might have skipped some of the other avoidances, meaning you may be unprepared for this one in turn. There's plenty of RNG attacks, almost all of them, but the real pain comes from the very end, where you MUST be in the middle of the screen or will die at the very end of the fight, it's something you might not even see coming before it's too late and it made me have to play it for almost half an hour longer because of it.

Overall, I really think this game could be good, but it needs a serious overhaul to the later stages of needle platforming and preferably more actual fighting modes for the bosses. Also, you should either add a way to skip the final boss like every other one or give a player a warning at the start that they won't be able to skip it and may need the other bosses for practice.

As I finally beat this game after my third attempt at actually going through it, I found out it's just as unpleasant as I remember it being years ago. The style of needle in this game can only really be described as "claustrophobic", and I hope I never see it again as it actually feels bad to play, which is honestly hard for a needle game. Even generic 32px needle is pleasant compared to this. The only saves in the game I didn't find myself hating were a couple saves in stage 4, and maybe like the first gate in stage 1.

The bosses in this game are actually pretty alright however and are the highlights for me, most of them being pretty balanced avoidances that could be first tried without prior knowledge. The third one felt the best of them all and is by far the high point of the game, and the second one is the only one that isn't good by virtue of limited player space and just way too much brown.

Other notes about the production: Art is overall decent to good, most of the problems I had with it are with a lack of distinction sometimes between spikes and blocks (looking at you, stage 2) and it can look a little one-tone at times. I personally hate the music choices used throughout the game but that's a personal thing, so I'm not changing my rating for it. The death sound is however atrocious: it sounds like you just hit a button in some flash puzzle game or something. Other SFX were good.

It's my least favorite needle game of all time, but clearly this is not the opinion of the majority, so perhaps the reader of this review may end up enjoying the game. I'd say give it a shot, but if you reach the second stage and the needle isn't to your liking, then it's wiser to bail out.
