For: I wanna Freezemind
For: I wanna Freezemind
I loved freezemind. I would consider the first half, the part in a random order before the medley section to be one of the best experiences I have ever had playing a fangame. Not every section is perfect or even necessarily fun (although most of them are), but so incredibly varied in both visuals and gimmicks that it felt incredibly fun to play. Every area is given one core gimmick as well as a bunch of extra gimmicks inside of it. The sheer amount of variety in freezemind (for its length) is something I haven't really seen in any other fangame.
Also all of the sections in the first half are short and sweet, none of them overstay their welcome. The same cannot be said for the second half.
The bosses are also really good. Almost all of them have random attack order which I wish more fangames did, its such an easy and effective way of making it so you get to practice every part of the boss equally. I definitely do think the platforming is what stands out though, while the bosses are needed to break up the gameplay and help give you a good indicator of how far in the game you are, I don't know if any of them are unique gameplay wise in the same way the platforming is. They are still incredible though, and all of them have a really high production value.
I didn't enjoy the second half of the game as much as I did the first. It honestly feels like a completely different game, while the first half had sudoku elements the second half felt sudoku in that it was purposely low effort. While I feel like this can work, I don't feel like it works as well when it is really hard. Which some of the areas are. I will be going over my thoughts on each section from favorite to least favorite.
I Wanna Vibe With The Gods: This area was incredible, honestly the only medley section which I liked as much as the first half of the game. It felt like a lot of effort was put into this one, making a version of the vibe gods which didn't feel like it used sudoku as a crutch (not saying more effort should have been put into the other sections, but I would have preferred not having a boss / area if it is just going to be a joke, like the heavenly host section). Super fun and extremely well made.
Chungo's Gauntlet: The "Chungo's Gauntlet" section was really good. I have yet to play the original game, but I enjoyed it and it felt like a more toned down version of the first half of the game. I still preferred the first half, but this was still really fun.
I Wanna Journey Where the Wind Takes Me:
Pretty bland but still fun.
Heavenly Host: A sudoku version of the original heavenly host, although the gimmick kinda ruins it for me. I really did not like the rng keys, and the boss isn't very fun either.
Hereditary baldness 2: It was ok. I didn't love it, but it had some fun ideas. The really really long falling section was completely unnecessary and super tedious though.
I Wanna Look Inside: I don't know much about this game, and I didn't love the section that much. It was extremely tedious and didn't have great visuals or music.
Crimson Needle 3: My least favorite part of the whole game. Its one of the hardest areas, and while there are unique gimmicks, it is WAY WAY WAY too long and is extremely low effort at parts. I am not sure if this was made by guest makers (it seems like it was?) but it feels completely out of place. Its extremely hard and long, while also feeling like jtool sudoku with some gimmicks most of the time. There are some unique parts, like the croc area (although that area was still really hard ;-;), but the majority of it wasn't very fun. Also that one visual challenge area was the only area that actively hurt me to look at.
Then there was the last few sections. They were decent, although some of the gimmicks were really unclear It was not indicated at all that the thing orbiting the player could touch the yellow things at that one part ;-;.
The final boss was AMAZING though!!!! The music really helped it feel really climatic, and it wasn't overly difficult like so many fangame final bosses are. I didn't love some of the attacks, moving game window attack didn't work a lot of the time and the fire attack felt really tough to dodge, but it was still one of my favorite bosses in the game.
Even though there was some negativity in this review, overall this was one of the most creative and fun fangames I have ever played.
I changed my review to a 10 / 10 because I feel like the first part half is actually one of the best things I have ever played in a fangame period. Really inspiring, and I wish more fangames focused on having variety in the same way this fangame does. Of course its totally a personal preference though.

A super short and fun game that uses popular scp characters. I am not super super into scp, but I have played a couple scp games and I like the creatures a lot. This game is a really fun experience that I can't recommend enough. It doesn't really have a lot of platforming from what I remember, and instead focuses on atmosphere and variety. It excels in this.
Highly recommend, and it is super beginner friendly, I think basically any fangamer can beat this and have a fantastic time!

This has 66 reviews as of writing this so there isn't really anything I can say that hasn't been said before, but I will try to share a few things.
It is a fangame that has all my personal favorite elements of fangame, and excels at them.
The custom art and animations look incredible. So much personality shines through with all of the spritework and animations.
The has oodles of really unique gimmicks, all used in really fun ways.
The game seems to have a story or at least conveys a message through its abstract storytelling, and I really appreciate that. I really like when fangames have a story, serious or not (in this case it did seem a bit more serious).
I really enjoyed playing this game, and I am excited for more games like it to come out, and I am excited to continue to play games like this that were already released.

I enjoyed this game!
Basically the game is a score based floor game where the goal is to get as far as possible without dying. The floors thankfully are somewhat easy and consistent (with a few exceptions) in order to make it fair.
There are quite a few floors with really unique ideas, but there are also a lot of filler floors that tend to blend together (some are called filler floors by the game itself lol).
Being said, even a lot of the floors with a fun idea are still just basic needle floors with a visual effect or a silly needle idea (ie, using just cherries and platforms or focusing on one type of jump). From what I can tell there are only 3 unique reoccurring gimmicks (the chompy cherry, breakable blocks, and crushers), and while they are fun, it definitely does hurt the variety that there aren't that many. But if you really like classic needle, I could see this being more of a positive.
Every 10 floors (i think, this could be wrong) you get a small +1 effect, but most of them are either mostly unobtrusive visual effects, or a VERY minor change to the player physics.
To win, you have to beat all 51 floors without dying. This is quite hard, and I ended up doing it with the flip and spike shoot mods on as both of them allow you to skip many of the rooms. It definitely still wasn't easy though, but the intention of the game seems more to go for a high score rather than winning. It would be nice though if the game saved the unmodded high score separate, it seems odd that it doesn't seeing how the win counts are separate.
Because its a fun score based game, basically anyone can play this game and get something out of it. I would recommend!

For: I Wanna In The Backroom
Incredible game held back by a few big issues.
(also I looked up the requirements for each part and heavily relied on using videos to help see how to do some of the patterns).
"I Wanna In The Backroom" is an extremely high production value avoidance with really unique attacks and a really good song. It also gives you 9 hp, which is exceptionally generous and was the only reason I could beat this fight. I can't recommend this game enough, but it definitely has some weak points which really hold it back.
The maze is terrible. At the start of the game (and if you get any of the bad endings) you are forced to do this maze thing with it being super unclear what is ground and what's a wall. It isn't fun at all, and is completely out of place production value wise. I think its interesting to have exploring the maze give you hints, but for that to work the maze would have to be fun. Which it isn't.
I 100% agree with what Nick said about having to beat the first part in less than 3 hits. The first pattern section (the part with the really narrow xs and other stuff) is by far the hardest part of the fight, and the fact that you aren't even allowed to practice the rest of the fight if you haven't mastered that part yet seems really mean. Even if you were given one extra hit I think it would be fine, or if there was a built in practice tool. Its one of those things that despite being at around the beginning, meaning you will practice it the most, I still would end up taking too many hits even in the attempts leading up to me clearing it.
Finally, (and this could be a skill issue) I hate the cherries that spawn vertical beams. Using a clear video, I timed how many frames it took for the cherry to appear, and then for it to fire. It took 10 frames for the cherry to show up and summon its beam (removing paused frames because the game runs at 50fps compared to the video which ran at 60fps). This is faster than the average human reaction time (you need to react to the cherries in under 0.2 seconds unless I counted the frames wrong), and even if you do react, you might not be able to move out of the way in time. This is balanced around the fact that they usually don't hit you. because of how small they are compared to the screen. (also this is mainly for the ones during the red flower attacks near the beginning, the larger ones during the 2 player section give you much more time to react). This is an issue for obvious reasons, but you usually get lucky so it isn't a big deal and doesn't ruin the fight in any way.
Aside from those things though, this is an amazing avoidance that I really enjoyed. I am so thankful for the fact it gives you so much hp, it makes practicing and playing it so much easier. I highly recommend!
