For: I Wanna Enjoy the Stimulated Strawberry Lollipop Dandy
As the third entry in the Dandy series, Stimulated Strawberry Dandy has a lot riding on its shoulders. After that second game, I was expecting true greatness from SSD. Did I get it? Well, not quite.
SSD falls between the first and second game in terms of quality. I did heavily enjoy my time with the main game, but I didn't enjoy it quite as much as I was hoping. The final room is where I started to really have an incredible time, but it's also the only true highlight of the game. Don't let the slightly negative outlook here fool you, though, this game is still quite excellent. There is still a high level of enjoyment to be had, even if it doesn't quite meet the bar set by the previous game. The extra, however, is where the quality took a dive.
The extra feels like it turned up the difficulty (up to around 60 or so) but accidentally turned down the quality. For the most part, I was not having any sort of enjoyable time with the platforming. The first extra is certainly the superior of the trio, but it just goes down from there. The second is pretty good aside from the last save which I found to be far too long and not good enough to justify the length, and the third extra was outright no fun at all to me. Luckily, they're all rather short and there's no real reason to play through them other than for the sake of it and for a funny bit after. The first two are good enough for me to recommend; however, none of the extra is better than the main game.
Nonetheless, this is still a really well made Uhuhu-like and I would still recommend giving it a go. Just don't expect the quality to be higher than the previous.

For: I wanna enjoy the Galvanized Peppermint Dandy
Now THIS is some good fucking food right here. Building upon the greatness set in the first Dandy game, Galvanized Peppermint Dandy not only improves the formula, but sets up its future for an even better game. The final rooms are so perfectly crafted that if there had been thirty more rooms connected in this maze-like fashion, I would not have minded a bit. The trigger saves as well are so wholly brilliant that I wouldn't have minded if every single save were built like that. Thus, if the third game takes this further, then it will be a sure thing that it makes a perfect grade.
Though GPD took me only a little less time to beat than the first game, it felt like it went by so much quicker. This is thanks to the habit of getting more bang out of your buck with each warp. Instead of it just being one screen per warp, you'd find yourself going several screens deep for a single warp quite a bit. This was done in the first game, but not quite as proficiently and not as often as I'd have liked. Also, this game is just shorter and a bit easier, so naturally it's going to go by faster.

For: I wanna enjoy the Electrified Butterscotch Dandy
The Uhuhu Spike games have this fairly unique sense of infinity to them. When you step into the void, you will never know when your next step will bring you out - if you'll ever be able leave, that is. Electrified Butterscotch Dandy gets this feeling down perfectly. That, of course, isn't the best aspect of the Uhuhu Spike games - in fact, it's quite the opposite. Luckily, EBD also manages to emulate the great aspects of the Uhuhu Spike games as well, so you're in for quite a treat here.
Wolfiexe did a great job putting on the mask here. If you're familiar with their other games, you'll find some difficulty in sniffing out their fantastic style. Indeed, the only way you can tell this is a Wolfiexe game is through its extremely high quality. I've been reviewing a lot of Wolfiexe games recently and have thus become a bit self-conscious of my over-usage of satisfying or variations on that, but I simply cannot avoid it: EBD's platforming is satisfying through and through on a visceral level. From jump to jump, screen to screen, you'll never find a moment of awkwardness or become uncomfortable with what you're to traverse because the game has been designed with fun and enjoyment in mind.
As EBD went on, though, I found that even though the quality did not really deteriorate to any degree, I began to wonder when I'd reach the end. Now, this is a necessary quality of the Uhuhu games, so I don't mind that. Going in, you don't know if you're going to take one hour or ten (disclaimer: you'll probably take an hour if you're decent) - and that's both a blessing and a curse. Regardless of the quality of the platforming, which is fairly high, the brain loses itself within the electronic happy-go-lucky DANDY screens of the Uhuhu style, and you'll find yourself wondering if that Butterscotch is the last one or not. You'll continue to guess that you're on the last screen and found you're proven wrong until you get to the actual last screen and see the M E G A S C O T C H, and you'll both breathe a sigh of relief and find yourself a bit sad to be done.
Luckily, this is the first of three games, so it's not like you don't have more to do.
Wolfiexe, I know you're reading this, so let me implant this small message to you: thank you so much for being such an incredible game designer. Please, make more games! Your games are an incredible gift to this community and they inspire me in such a way that few other fangames do. Your skills as a game developer are nearly unparalleled and make me happy to have come back to this excellent community.

I wouldn't call the game perfect by any means, and I think it leans too far into this inspiration in a way that doesn't excite me greatly. Nonetheless, this is the first game, and I have no idea what's in store for me with the next two games, but you can rest assured that I'll have exhumed several dead languages looking for more ways to say "this is a great game."

For: I wanna find my way out
Yet another excellent game from Habluka. The more I play their games, the more I realize just how good of a maker they are. Each save feels great to pull off and nothing felt too grindy to me. The difficulty was also very well balanced throughout with no one jump standing out as much harder than another. The creativity of the needle relies on utilizing named jumps in really interesting ways, the most commonly used named jumps being diagonals, corners, and planes. Every single implementation of these jumps, however, felt novel and great to actually pull off. The music is excellent and the visuals pretty good, and though there was nothing alone that blew me away (aside from the screen transition save, that was incredible), the sum total of the game does knock me off my feet.
Though this was a tough game, it also felt fairly accessible. Nothing looked frightening to me as someone who, though with some experience, mostly hasn't tackled these sorts of games. Everything felt manageable and I found myself excited for the next save to see what else was in store for me. If you enjoy precise needle to any degree, then you've got to try this one out; if you don't like precise needle, maybe try this one out anyways, though.
The final jump was probably the one I struggled the most with, but it was a really cool jump so I didn't mind.

Here's what Witch's Tower did right relative to the Witch's Needle:
- Feels much more cohesive and like a real game as opposed to a bunch of screens glued together haphazardly. This has been done through improving the visuals and using logical screen transitions in lieu of warps. Plus, some screens are literally connected (in a way that is later done to utter perfection in Vandal), further enhancing the feeling of genuine progression.
- Platforming is MUCH better, making it much more evident that this is by the same person who made Vandal. Nearly everything feels beautiful to pull off and smooth in such a way that reminds one of their bottom as a baby (my Lord, what a dumb phrase that was). Not only is the platforming better to play, though, it's also much more inventive and unique. Gone are the days of platform spike jumps copy-pasted throughout ever screen, now you'd be hard-pressed to find any repeated jumps within five screens of each other at least.
Here's what Witch Tower does wrong relative to Witch's Needle:
The fuck you looking for? This shit is a direct upgrade.
Really, I take no issue with this game at all. There were a couple saves that were more grindy than others, but I wouldn't say they were worse than other saves in terms of quality. On the topic of difficulty, the difficulty scaling is excellent and feels really natural. From beginning to end, you will find almost no spikes in difficulty aside from those previously-mentioned grindy saves (which were mostly located in the final two stages). The best stage is the last one, naturally, but every stage was excellent.
Highly recommended if you enjoy needle to any degree.
