Stage 1: A very boring stage with impressive visuals. The gameplay itself though was just bland and repetitive. The boss was kinda repetitive too. Very forgettable stage
Stage 2: Stage 1 but slightly less forgettable. It's still very repetitive and drags on for way too long. The boss was even more repetitive and boring. I had trouble bringing myself to play it since it was such a sleeper boss.
Stage 3: The first good stage. It still doesn't really introduce new ideas and thus ends up being a bit repetitive, but it didn't really matter because the base idea of the stage was fun. The boss however was very boring just like the first two bosses.
Stage 4: Really fun stage with an amazing idea, but it's criminally easy and short. Also it's a bit laggy for me.
Stage 5: It's an uninteresting stage, but at least it brings new ideas unlike the first couple of stages. Nothing special but it's decent enough.
Stage 6: One of my favorite stages. The gimmick was so fun, I enjoyed every stage, and I'm really glad it was long enough. The bonus stages were extremely fun too.
Stage 7: A rather short stage that is mostly uninteresting, but it just has the king dice like tower in the middle of it, which was incredibly fun. I would have wanted to see all fights there, but unfortunately missed some. One of the best parts of the game.
Stage 8: The best stage in the game. It's a new version of the guy tower in IWBTG. All of the rooms were bangers, but this stage was a bit too short. The tower in IWBTG felt so much longer, and it feels a bit anti-climactic here. However the final boss was definitely the highlight of this game. It's a roulette that references many other fangames, and it's one of the best final bosses I have ever seen. The final attack was fun to dodge too.
Overall this game is really good if you can pull through the boring first few stages. Especially the last three stages were all bangers

This game was released a couple months after I quit Geometry Dash and was getting back to fangames. Originally this game was going to release at the same time as IWM Campaign mode, so I was super excited to check both out. The release of IWM Campaign was delayed by a month but I was still excited to play this game.
Back then I was still sort of new to fangames so I had lower standards, and I absolutely loved tier 1 even though a lot of other people had more negative opinions on it. I was good enough at avoidance that it didn't take more than 2 sessions to get tier 1 down.
Tier 2 was a big step up in difficulty. I still wanted to keep playing the avoidances blind, which made this tier take really long to beat. Most of my time on The Avoidance Complex was spent on tier 2, and especially Rolling Girl was a complete nightmare to beat blind. Vicious Heroism and Miami Hotline went down pretty smoothly, but the other two took over a year for me to clear. I had to take a long break to gain more avoidance skill, and I'm really glad to have done this tier blind even if it took forever.
Tier 3 went a lot better mostly because I wasn't playing blind anymore and I had more avoidance skill at this point. I played the minivoidances as a break from the hard stuff, but I was able to clear Virtual Stigmata and Tempestissimo without too much trouble. Peer Gynt posed a lot more threat but it went down eventually. A Fool Moon Night however, really tested my patience. It took me 20 hours, which is only 4 hours away from my time in Rolling Girl. I do believe that it's my hardest avoidance clear as of writing this. With this, I was finally done with The Avoidance Complex.
Now I would like to go through each of the main avoidances and write some thoughts about as well as give them a placement on a tier list.
Rock My Emotions:
Solid introduction to the game. It's a good mix of standard attacks and slightly more complicated ones. It is a bit too long for its own good though. Overall nothing too special. C
Reve Of Mirrors:
Commonly the most disliked avoidance in the game. It has a long intro which is mostly free and fairly boring to go through every time. I do like the rest of the avoidance though. It has lots of fun attacks. I still don't care that much about the avoidance, so the fun attacks and the long intro balance it to a C tier.
Cursed:
This avoidance still has the same issue that most tier 1 avoidances have: it feels like it's too long for its own good. Overall it is better than Rock My Emotions and Reve Of Mirrors though. It has better and more unique attacks, and I feel like the pacing is a bit better. Nothing too special, but it's a fun avoidance. B
Power Attack:
Definitely the best avoidance in tier 1. It has good visuals, super fun attacks and it flows really well. It's also quite a lot shorter than the other tier 1 avoidances. Especially the second half of the avoidance feels really good to play every time. A
Rolling Girl:
I have really complicated feelings about this avoidance. When I started grinding it, I didn't like vocaloid avoidances that much, but as of writing this, they are my favorite types of avoidances. This avoidance especially has a more barragey style that I like similarly to popop's avoidances. However, this avoidance does feel a bit unfair at times in a way that’s more annoying than funny or charming. I did have a pretty bad strat for chorus 1 which definitely contributed to it feeling unfair, but I still feel like it could be a bit more polished. The attacks are mostly really fun though, and there are some unique and gimmicky attacks thrown in as well. B
Octane:
I have pretty similar feelings about this as I have about Rolling Girl. It’s really cool but quite flawed. It has a really long intro which can be a huge problem for some people, but I found it pretty chill. The first drop is probably the most flawed part of the avoidance. It’s a pretty annoying difficulty spike, and the platform part after that feels quite janky to play. Everything after that is amazing. Especially the infinite jump part with the arrows feels really good to play every time. B
Vicious Heroism:
Excellent avoidance, my favorite one in tier 2. It’s nothing too crazy but everything just works so well in this avoidance. The visuals are nice, the song is used very well, the flow is amazing, the attacks are really good, and the balancing is pretty much perfect to me. I have no complaints about this one. S
Miami Hotline vol.3:
Very interesting avoidance. Definitely one of the more experimental ones in the game. The intro felt pretty janky at first but it got surprisingly consistent. The drops are more grounded and about what you would expect from a Mastermaxify avoidance. They’re probably the most fun parts, although the experimental parts are very interesting. Overall it’s a really fun avoidance although I feel like the waterfall part in the intro is a bit too repetitive. A
Peer Gynt:
Phenomenal avoidance. The song is used extremely well, and the attacks are a perfect mix of gimmicky attacks and more standard reading. Everything works so well together, and it’s just such a banger avoidance. S+
A Fool Moon Night:
The hardest avoidance in the game, and objectively speaking probably the best one. This avoidance has the best set of attacks, and it is exceptionally well balanced. I also like how the visuals work here. The quiet parts of the song just have a black background but more stuff starts appearing when the song builds up, and the space background at the drops in the style of Evoltex is really cool. My only issue with this avoidance is that I found some parts of the song to be pretty boring which made this quite demotivating to play. Other than that it’s amazing. S
Tempestissimo:
This avoidance is unfortunately unfinished, and because of that it was seemingly not properly playtested. It is quite flawed and also pretty uninteresting because it’s unfinished. My least favorite avoidance in the game. D
Virtual Stigmata:
Personally my favorite avoidance in the game. Every attack in the drop feels really cool and distinct from each other, and the final attack is the best way I have ever seen an avoidance end. Max really nailed everything with this avoidance. I have absolutely no complaints. S+
Overall The Avoidance Complex was an incredible game to play through. It does suffer from some issues most likely due to being unfinished. I feel like Chrisay has a point about the complex feeling a bit too simple, and I feel like it could feel a bit less disconnected from the avoidances. If I would have made the game, I would have made the structure be more like untitled needle game with an explorable hub where you have to find your way to the levels. I also feel like not having to clear all avoidances to advance to the next tier would make this game more accessible considering that there are avoidances that some people really don’t like, although I get that the game is going for a k3 bossrush style approach. Another strange decision in this game is to have most of the longest avoidances be the easiest ones. Tier 1 has three avoidances that are 3+ minutes long, tier 2 has only two, and tier 3 has only one. I feel like easier avoidances are better when they’re on the shorter side, and I definitely get why some people think that tier 1 is a slog to go through.
Despite some flaws, I do really love this game. There’s nothing too bad that it would make the game with Vicious Heroism, Peer Gynt and Virtual Stigmata be anything but a 10. And on top of those there are so many other really good avoidances. This is definitely my favorite avoidance game, and I will always recommend this even if it’s not perfect.
