For: I wanna be the Vidro
Needle is mostly generic, the main difficulty is gonna be with F jumps and diagonals. Visuals, music and sound effects are decent.
Avoidance itself reminds me of a lot of things which made me hate like 'I wanna be the Cute Princess' - unnecessary bouncing, sudden black and white design which does not fit, patterns which you might 2nd try like ElCochran or you might not if you do not stand where author thought it is best to stand.
Even the beginning after bouncing - I was standing on the right side, and it looks like the best spot is on the left side. Cool.
Soundtrack is good, but ends up very abruptly. It looks like it is official version, or at least I guess so, but it still feels weird.
Attacks are like in your average 2016 avoidance - few generic figures, some sudden instagibs and everyone's favorite bouncing.
Avoidance does not annoy on itself, but I definitely was feeling emotionless while playing this.
I can see why beginner would like this - avoidance sort of rewards you with its shortness and somewhat active gameplay, but it is so generic, that I genuinely would prefer some older avoidances by some Japanese creator than this avoidance.
I do not get the hype for this game. Mediocre at best.
Would not recommend.
For: I Wanna Get Some Drip
Basically avoidance which main theme is 'Among Us' meme.
As author says in readme, this game was made in 6 hours, and you can clearly see that. The production is very rushed, although it has some decent ideas.
But in the end avoidance just leaves you with empty feeling. I did not feel anger. I did not feel sadness. I just felt nothing. I do not know if this is feeling of 'cringe' , but maybe?
It is an easy avoidance, and you will probably beat it in under 15 minutes, but it has so many weird choices. Bullet tails are way too big for something that is not part of hitbox. Rainbow is kind of unfitting, and the speed of bullets feels questionable and unnatural.
The small 'cutscene' (if you even can call it like that) is fine, but not that it gives you something significantly more with its existence.
Aiming attacks feel awkward, and last rainbow section is suspiciously (got it?) dense.
I do not have much to say. I might be too harsh, but for me it seems that avoidance is just way too outdated, and overall feels as if people played this due to who made it, not because of the game itself, which also affected their rating in the end.
I have also heard that some people felt that the avoidance has Visual Challenge aspect, but personally I did not notice it as much.
Anyway, my opinion: just avoid this, unless you are specifically fan of (or you just do not mind) old memes.
Would not recommend.
For: I wanna be the New game
If I am ever gonna get this version of the game, I will update this review with the proper review on the gameplay differences.
However, there are no proofs on what are the differences between Hanshin's 2011 release of this game and LIPCONE's 2012 releases (since there were more than one).
The original version, written under '☆阪神☆', came out on 2011/April/01 (http://web.archive.org/web/20110420153645/http://www21.atwiki.jp:80/iwannabethewiki/pages/42.html). Then LIPCONE's version came out on 2012/February/07 (https://web.archive.org/web/20171102083901/https://www21.atwiki.jp/iwannabethewiki/pages/742.html) - it seems like the title screen was the same, the version number different. However, game could not have the nickname LIPCONE mentioned in the game back in 2011, which makes me believe that there were some differences in the games.
And to make things even more confusing, there are these 2 LIPCONE's Tweets, that came out on 2012/April/01, the year after the release of the original version:

This mentions something called 'I wanna be the new game -Second Season-', giving Mediafire link and mentioning that game available for 1 day and without Wiki release.
No clues what is that.
However, even though these games are similar, I would not call these as same game, since the release dates are different, and contents cannot be confirmed if the same or different. And I would not necessarily use the word 'Update' as well.
Will see if we will ever find this game or if any videos of 2011 version will surface in the future.

Anyway, this is a game by riot3121 made as part of 'Secret Santa 2023' event and made for Emmanating as a request for "No traditional avoidance" and basically Puzzle game.
This game ended up being very short, due to the author not expecting such request, which is why the avoidance ended up being added in the EX.
I did enjoy the neat vibe of the main game - sweet transitions between rooms, gimmick with interesting concept and overall pretty visuals. The cutscene does kinda feel a bit awkward, but author at the very least was honest.
EX avoidance is very short so my rating does include that as well (but it is still more or less the same difficulty as platforming). It is pretty much your average 'traditional avoidance', using Vocaloid song.
There is also separate portal for just a GIF. Gonna give additional points for the humor.
This game is harmless, but I would not say I necessarily enjoyed it. I know that the original recipient of this game enjoyed it, so it is a success at the very least. Game could have had more content and could be polished more, but this is what we have.
If you have a bit of a spare time you can try it out, but I personally would not recommend.
For: I wanna send Sins into Space
So originally I have played this game in 2020 for FSR avoidance challenge, but never got to writing review.
Initially I remember taking most of my time on needle. It was not the most fun thing, honestly. I remember didliking several things, but now the only thing I can barely remember is the weird drop save at some point.
Needle is not necessarily the hardest thing in the game. I would probably say it is pretty much as hard as an avoidance going after it. Still, the only decent thing is visual design for needle. Gameplay is pretty generic and not very remarkable.
Avoidance is the reason this game exists and you can tell it if you just read the title. It is game about sending Johnny Sins in space. Well, rather generic avoidance with Johnny Sin's sprite. Actually, 2 sprites, he and his gray form. Both of these phases are pretty long, in total making gameplay of around 4 minutes long. And, damn, both forms are annoying.
Avoidance has dot hitbox, but you can tell that author made 2 very different and unrelated phases, realized gameplay is too hard and just put dot hitbox to nerf it.
Attacks themselves are consisting from very standard curvings twisted in different ways and other very unremarkable attacks.
The issue is that it just feels as if nothing is going on. You have attacks which are easily doable and attacks which can give you the most unnecessary situations ever. What the hell is that final attack of first phase? Or bouncing attack which is literally unpredictable?
Or what about 2nd phase, where you have bunch of attacks where you need to reavt on hyper speed bullets or curvings mixed with straight RNG, ready to go towards you if you get a bit unlucky.
Unnecessary orbit-like pattern, bunch of diagonal or vertical falling dense bullets, where you have little space to operate. And also not the most cool pre-finale.
And then you beat avoidance, get credits... what do you mean in this game there was used song "Hold Angel" ? I do not remember that there... weird.
What do you mean "What is that noise?" ??? Omg...
Yes, this avoidance has another phase after credits. It is styled as if it is phase 4 of Last TIS, and you can see for what author was going to.
This phase is short but what a cluster of attacks it is. It is probably the hardest thing in avoidance. You really need to read it well enough to not die. I was lucky first time to beat it like 3 tries, but on 2nd playthrough I was not as lucky.
Yes, you do not have checkpoint. You have to rebeat the whole thing again if you die. At least you can skip credits by pressing S.
But like come on. It is not a "Haha choke phase" , which would work somehow. After dying once, you will expect to beat it, not dying several more times. Because rebeating 4 / 5 minutes of content (depends if you rest on crefits) here is not that fun.
After beating game you get practice warps. I had no intentions on beating needle, so I tried practicing avoidance for 2nd clear. And, instead of 1.5 hours like first time, this time it took more than 2 times longer. I had practiced...
I was fine with the game first time, but now it was just an infuriating experience. Niw I noticed that the only thing tying all phases is obnoxiously loud sound and white flash between phase 1 and 2 and just sound after credits.
This game was made as a meme, which did not age that well, because game did no try a bit harder to impress the player.
I like the idea of fake credits, but I do not appreciate mini Last TIS phase 4. Come on...
If you can first try hard parts, then I can understand why someone could find it as a fun experience. Hey, even I enjoyed it for the reason of beating fast!
Otherwise, if you feel unsure about avoidance or needle, I think it is better to skip this one. You won't lose a lot.
Highly would not recommend.
