For: I wanna beast The TAKAHASHI
This is quite old avoidance game made by snow, creator who is not so famous among other fangame creators, even though has made a lot of different games. Probably one of the reasons is that most of his games are private at this point, including this one. I got access to it and was interested in particularly this one since I saw that zero81kuro liked it and avoidance looked very fun and dynamic. Also for people it didn't take too much time. And I was wondering, why this game was made private, but now I quite understand the reasons...
As I said avoidance is very dynamic to the EBONY & IVORY soundtrack. Design of the layout is pretty simplistic, but I don't think that it is a problem. It is less than 2 minutes long, and the beginning looks very fair, more or less. It has several random attacks, some pattern and everything is fun and sweet, but then you meet the first attack, on which you may struggle a lot out of 5 hard attacks, in my opinion. It is when you have to be at the left side, have to dodge from left side RNG fruits and then have to dodge from the centre blue fruits, which after that will fall down. Luckily, you can get consistent to it if you play a lot of it, but it can also give walls very easily. After that starts second problematic part. Purple fruits from right and right after red fruits fom top. It isn't really unfair, but you should be really concentrated to not die, and I would suggest to avoid being in centre at the end of the attack, since most likely next attack will kill you. Then after small amount of time, there starts sea-blue (or something like that) coloured fruit bursts from left and right. It was very problematic attack for me, because I just couldn't understand what I have to do. It doesn't really give you walls, but it is just very hard to react to that and most likely you will just pray for good RNG. Interesting part starts after that, it is slow attack, which design I liked quite much, since it was very fitting, even though sometimes it was also quite hard, but nothing too problematic. The problem starts short after this attack ending. Blue fruits from right are more or less fair, but if they want, they can give you really bad RNG to react, but the biggest probelm was the next attack. Red and blue attack. I still don't know what you really have to do, but you somehow should avoid very fast falling fruits and jump very carefully and should pray that RNG won't kill you. I cleared this attack like 3 times, yes, you can die at the last attacks too. Light blue attack is very RNG and I died once to it, and once I died on the last burst of fruits, when I had like 5 hours on timer... Back then I wouldn't expect that I will need 8 more hours to try it once again. Only weird feeling for me was when I had winning attempt, I had feeling on red-blue that you can actually read it if you jump very carefully, but maybe I just had good RNG.
To sum up, I wanted this avoidance to play to relax, but at the end it turned out, that I had to grind it instead. Personally, I was on half disappointed about difficulty of many attacks, but in the same time it was quite fun to play. I guess if you have god's reaction, then you may even have very fun time with it, but if you don't, then this will be really painful. I wanted to enjoy it, but at the end, I just did in half. At first I wanted to give rating around 8, but now it is quite lower, but not too low, which may seem quite surprising. I don't know are other snow avoidances so crazy like this, but so far seems like this is very special his avoidance, and I see why there are people who enjoyed it very much. From clear screen, I believe these high speeds were made intentionally to make avoidance very hard and quite insane. But still at this point it is hard to say would I suggest this game. I believe that if you think that this description sounds appealing to you, and you like fast-paced avoidances, then this may be a good decision, but if you have quite slow reaction like I do, then maybe better avoid it until better times. For beginners I would definitely not recommend though, it is not a beginner game, like I thought at first.
Edit: If you ask me why this game is called as I wanna beast The TAKAHASHI, then I can say that surely I don't know, however, I guess these 'Cat boxes' are Takahashi and, knowing difficulty of an avoidance, I am not surprised why it is a beast. However, probably it is similar situation like with I wanna rape flower weather, where you don't need to find logic, where it is missing in the title.
For: I wanna be the Snow Drive
Avoidance starts with quite unusual visual effect intro, which shows some kind of storm. Intro is quite long, however it didn't get really boring, since you always can dodge snowflakes like crazy, even though those won't hurt you, if you are bored. Already first attack shows the production value of the avoidance. Even though it is vertical fruit attack, you can see visual effects on them, which looks very well and doesn't look generic at all. After that thereare several pattern attacks, from which some doesn't even look like pattern and you may even think that it is RNG, but it isn't. The first real and trouble-some RNG is when water appears, because gameplay is very fast-paced and attack changed quite fast and you have to react immediately to not die. In most of times random is fair, even though bouncing attack may give some really bad random from time to time, also, in my opinion, fruits, which sets in background, when bouncing starts, are not really obvious that they doesn't kill, however sooner or later you will find it out. After that you will see Miku picture appear and then Miku itself up. Idea very good, even though I quite didn't understand 2 things: 1. Why picture is so blurry? 2. Why kid getsteleported to particular different spot, when Miku appears? It was totally not onbious and can give trouble since you have immediately react to very fast pattern, however in the same time you may get very consistent on this attack if you know this. After that starts attack, which gave me a lot of pain at first and even frustration. I thought it is random attack, but I was quite wrong. It is pattern, however it is set randomly. With that I want to say that there are 3 patterns, but only one is randomly chosen, but you can recognize each of them. One has straight fruits, one has partly invisible fruits and one has some weird spiral. Pattern is quite tight, but it isn't impossible to learn how to dodge it. After that is random attack, which is very sgort, but can give also quite bad RNG, but I cannot say that it is unfair. After that starts the finale, when Miku has wings appeared on it (or what is it?). In 2018 I got once there and dropped. I returned in 2019 to beat this avoidance. The final phase has 2 sub-phases. I died 21 time in total, from which 7 times was on second half. Most likely you have seen it in I Wanna Break The Series Z 3. First part I think is fully pattern (even though quite tight one), but it still can be hard to learn when and how to jump over that rotating spiral (or how can you call that?). Second one has the same rotating thing and I think RNG fruits. It is quite hard, but I had fun time to play that part. After that is the last pattern, which may look quite precise, but I think it isn't if you know about it (about what I knew). And that is the end of the avoidance.
Overall opinion? Avoidance is very well-made. It has unique and very fun attacks, spectacular visuals na dmostly it is also very fair. Maybe there are some small details, which I disliked, but most of them I have already mentioned and I don't find them annoying or too bad at all. I only don't know why after closing game there is tempt file, because of which you will be teleported to the avoidance and not to the title, but I guess it was because of engine or anything like that. Also there is some kind of remake made by Shi.Yu., which is called I wanna be the Snow Drive 01.23, but I haven't played or watched it yet, so I don't have an opinion about it. But about this game I can say that I would highly recommend this game to anyone who is confident about their avoidance skills, but be totally aware, since avoidance is not beginner-friendly and it may be quite hard for inexperienced players to learn strats or to understand how avoidance works, but if you are ready for the challenge, then it is amazing choice!
For: I wanna be the Umbrella
Well, actualy even though this game really gives me feeling that I am playing some 2012-2014 years fangame, I don't want to say that this game is necessarily bad! I don't really like to play new fangames, since mostly I am not interested in them, since I really old fangame style and soul, which you may feel in them. For some reason, this game really gives good feeling of those times. Yes, game has restarting music, many quite generic traps and probably too many one by one changing gimmicks, and one question room, in which questions are written in Japanese (luckily you don't have to type anything in Japanese though), but it still feels more or less quite aesthetically well-produced game for this creator's first game. I like blue color theme, since my eyes it didn't hurt, maybe I would wish that platforming would be quite more original, but again, for the first game it is even impressive.
The thing, which I really liked in this game was avoidance. It has really cool visuals,which fit to the song, easy attacks, but which didn't look generic and was really fun to play. It is easy to first try, but I think it does not make it look worse, it is still very cool and maybe even a good idea, since you can feel atmosphere of the song better. I even had shivers near the end from the song and visuals! Really well-made and like how the creator knows what looks aesthetically good and what not.
I would suggest creator to make more avoidances in the future, since I believe that he can make even better ones, and I really hope that this won't be his first and last work! Good job and wish you all the best! For other ones, I can surely suggest this game, even if you don't like platforming, I think avoidance is worth to just try and look on it for any skill level player! Would recommend.
Edit: Actually I just found out that this creator had made some games before. I wanna play the simple game, I wanna resurrect many times and I wanna be the Torikago. ButI won't change ratings though.
For: I wanna be the Quarzious - Quarzious Mode
What is the meaning of this game? This game show ironic look to the things, which were overplayed by that time, even though some memes were even made too early before becoming an actual memes. For that time this game trys to show players how overpopular got Happil clones and that their production actually should be stopped. You can recognise many Happil clones, like I wanna kill the Mokuteki or original I Wanna Kill The Happil 2. Game emphases that amount of production I Wanna Kill The Kamilia 3-like games is also ovewhelming. This is the reason why there is used I wanna break the Series Z 2, however I wanna break the Series Z 2 is also another meme, which at thattime wasn't actual, but at this time it has its reasons and it actually interesting that in the same it is ironic look particularly at I wanna break the Series Z 2, which in 2017 got its popularity among Russian community, which later, in 2018, to start producing remake for this game. Also I Wanna Kill The Kamilia 3 secret 5 and I Wanna Kill The Kamilia 3 in general was very popular in 2016, and I guess creator wanted to show how people are overlooking on only this game and that there actually other games to play. Choosing one comment in infinity trial section not only shows how people sometimes does not understand what people says figuratively and for some reason tries to find answer on anything, even though sometimes comments are clearly made just for fun or meme and not to be understood literally, but also shows figuratively that community plays too much this medley, as I said before. I don't know why I wanna be the Music2 was here, but I guess the main thing here was to show sunbla, who I guess already atthat time cleared many fangames, and that was reason why it show so many fangames at once? Cirno meme is quite hard to understand, but I guess it was made to show how many Japanese stuff we use in fangames, and how little Western stuff is being used, and that is true at some point. What else? Well, I liked how it used clear screen from I wanna kill the Chris, which I quite didn't expect. What I disliked in the game? The main issue is how short it is. If this game was longer, it could cover even more memes and it would more reasonable for it to exist. At this point it is just a game to play for around 5-7 minutes and that's it. But, I think it is great game to perceive figuratively and I don't really know why people hate it so much. It is not impossible Happil clone, it shows its own perspective of fangames and is quite entertaining to play. It's not great, but not bad either. I would actually recommend it if you want something to play something unusual, but don't want anything too hard.
P.S. I gave rating 2, instead of 1, since you can actually die in this game.
For: I wanna escape the Western house
This game has much more production value than his many other games. Game doesn't have restarting music, it has pretty unusual gimmicks and some kind of story and other helpful stuff, like help notes and easy mode, which activates if you get stuck on some save quite a lot on platforming. Sadly story and notes are in Japanese and as I get, bosses don't have easy modes, like they do have in such games, like I wanna be the RUKIMIN!7(SEVEN!), which is quite sad. But good thing is that easy mode for platforming is optional and gets activated only if you touch the appropriate box, which appears, when you die too much on some save. I didn't use any of those, but it is a nice thing for those who have less experience in fangames. Platforming itself is made quite good and I liked that there were several arrows, which show where to go, which helpts to not get lost, however the thing, which really is annoying in this game are traps, because mostly those are generic and quite a ot those are at the end of the long saves. Also, long saves is another problem, because at times I felt that saves are too long and could have quite more saves to be more fun to play and not to waste time to play one and the same traps for several times just to get to the second half of saves. At least gimmicks were all fun and original and I don't have any complaints about those.
On bosses I had fun to play through, because many had very original gimmicks and attacks. I had very fun to play through first and second bosses, because they didn't fell too hard or too long. Idea of third boss is original, however it may be confusing, especially, to understand when to shoot and when no, since sometimes it doesn't allow to deal real damage if you destroy green HP bar too early (at least as I get it), also it had small cutscene, which may be also annoying. Fourth boss also has interesting set of attacks, however, in my opinion, it has too many HP and some attacks may give you really bad RNG from time to time. Final boss is very original, and I liked, how it references all of previous bosses and make medley of its attacks. Also idea to clear all attacks in pattern order and only then attacks go in random order, which is really nice way to learn attacks, since some attacks are quite hard to learn, in my opinion, and even in this way this boss was the hardest boss in the game and I think that for new players it could be also quite challenging, but in the same time is also quite annoying too.
Game has its pros and cons. It has nice production value and nice features, and many fun segments, however it is in Japanese, has annoying traps, long saves and final boss can be also quite annoying. Maybe it isn't the best choice for the beginner players, but if you have at least some experience in fangames, then you may give a shor for this fangame! Would recommend.
