For: I wanna kill the Regr3t
genuinely one of my favorite fangames of all time. I cannot describe the sheer stupidity of this game no matter how hard I try. my original idea for this review was going to be detailing every single flaw with this game - attempting to highlight just how many things went wrong with the development of this game. however, I really couldn't bring myself to write anything scathing or bad about it. don't get me wrong, the game *is* bad, but it's the best kind of bad: so bad it's good
in short, this game is kind of like Tommy Wiseau's "The Room" if it was a fangame: a total catastrophic mess that accidentally became the purest form of comedy gold
I extend my thanks greatly to Sully, who essentially serves as this game's promoter at this point. Sully finds this game incredibly, incredibly funny and entertaining and shows it to pretty much anyone he can. he's contributed greatly to the growth of this game among the newer members of the fangame community. for that I can only be thankful, because oh my God is it amazing
something about this game reeks of newcomer to me. people obsessed with medleys (especially Kamilia 3) often like coming up with ridiculous medley ideas. it's every K3 kid's dream to make a game as good, hard and long as Kamilia 3. unfortunately, we don't all possess gamemaking skill like the makers of Kamilia 3 do. I imagine this is what led to this game's creation - a grand medley that eventually devolved so incredibly far from its original premise that it is now unrecognizable. typically, when people make bad medleys (i.e. Series Z 2 or the various Happil-likes), there's always a subset of people that like the games no matter how poorly made they may be. for some bizarre reason, this game has no subset of people that enjoy it. reading through the reviews, you'll read only about how bad and atrocious this game is. even beyond reviews, within Twitch streams and Discord channels I've heard people shitting on this game whenever it's brought up. despite this game being a solid contender for the worst medley ever created, I cannot give it this title simply due to the fact it's hard to take seriously. comparing it to another game I think should be the carrier of this title instead (that being Series Z 2), it clearly wants to be taken seriously. in that case, the player can choose/make the mistake of taking Z2 seriously. however, in Regr3t's case, I just cannot take the game seriously no matter how hard I try. it is such an innate clownfest that there is no serious element to it. the ModDB description does not help this at all (I'm urging you to read it since it's hilarious)
now, what is concretely bad about the game? the answer is just about everything. name an issue and it's likely found within this game. it's rare to see a game that is this intrinsically fractured and unstructured. as for what structure there is - it's 3 'medley' stages and 3 'medley' bosses. none of the needle is any good and the bosses are very poorly made. however, what I'd like to touch on is the fact that this is, against popular opinion, not a medley. the maker himself states in the game's credits sequence that it isn't a medley, as he only took tilesets and sprites from the annotated games. same goes for the bosses - hell, there's a Dark Souls titlecard and a sprite of a thing from Dark Souls. another example is Isaac: he isn't a boss from any of the included fangames in the stage before, therefore it's not a medley boss. the bosses all have really weird attacks that aren't telegraphed at all. I don't really know what the thought process was while making some of these bosses. final boss takes the cake for sure. I have no words for it, you just have to play it and see. it's some of the funniest and most entertaining fangame content you can play
it's legitimately the funniest game on this entire website. nothing can match this game's inordinate fuckery. highly recommended

a much better version of Kamilia 2, with the biggest change being at the final boss, making it leagues better. an insane improvement over the original. many balancing changes that I liked, however subtle they were. not sure about that Nue Houjuu pattern change, it seems to be about 16px higher than usual which threw me off for a while. additionally, the game patches out most bugs (i.e. Solgryn final phase skip, M-stage gravity flip bug, many savejump exploits and most importantly the ceilingjump and saveboost).
only downsides of this entire game are the fact that Gravity Man exists and Kamilia phase 1 is unchanged. can't win em all I guess

I definitely had a hard time with this game at first, as when I first played it I was a bit naive and bad at fangames in general. I gave this game a shockingly low rating of 0.1/10 at first, as I considered it insanely bad and unfun. what I had failed to see is the sheer artistic value in this game. it's so bafflingly stupid that you can't help but love and appreciate every stupid thing it does. it has a myriad of issues, ranging from a catastrophically broken sound system to no save blockers half the time to relentless instagibs and strange design. these all add to the general character of the game, and I genuinely think it's a classic at this point. it's unbelievably old, being up there with LoveTrap as one of the oldest games ever made. additionally, we're lucky to even have this game since オーオオ's games are mostly lost to time. it definitely gives an interesting insight to how early fangame design looked like. I genuinely believe this game was important for its time, and I feel like there are interesting ideas in here. they may not be executed too well, but it sure is an interesting and avant-garde experience that you can't get anywhere else on delfruit
for one, I recommend this game. I believe you should play this solely to experience it and its historical value. see it as going a history museum of sorts
