For: I wanna be the Appreciation
rating based on Medium; I was a tester for this game
extremely well-made old-style adventure game modeled after the likes of Symmetry and other works by carua and Abi. this is, in other words, the perfect game for someone with my taste in fangames. my only wish is that it was harder - however, higher difficulties can accomplish this just fine. I have essentially no negative words for this game and I can only give it praise
ava has a special ability that I greatly value: the ability to perfectly capture the specific feel of classic adventure games. furthermore, the maker is great at ironing out the issues that are ever-present within said adventure games. what I mean is the little stuff - overbearing traps, unbalanced bosses, weird/broken gimmicks or random difficulty spikes. some would say all of these qualities are instrumental in making classic games classics. I would agree, but having these minor issues fixed is a breath of fresh air, sort of like what I'd imagine to be a hypothetical 'perfect' classic game
I won't transcribe everything that happens in the game, but I feel it's important to say that Appreciation is actually the inverse of Symmetry. Symmetry's difficulty mostly relies on the bosses, whereas this game's difficulty mostly relies on needle. the needle is fantastic, mind you. ava is no stranger to fantastic needle concepts that are beautifully executed. I had the privilege of being a tester of this game, along with Chrisay. together we got to experience the beauty that is this game's platforming. I haven't played many games that are as refined and well-made as this one. it is nothing short of a masterclass in needle design. just when you think the maker couldn't pull out any other new ideas, just like a Hydra's head, two more instantaneously appear. the bosses are nothing short of amazing too. they are so beautifully simple yet fun, which is the true essence of old adventures - doing a lot with very little. the nigh-perfect execution of this very idea is what truly makes this game marvelous. the closer of the entire game is a very good Vocaloid avoidance. being the part of the game most inspired by Abi, lots of creativity was expected (since carua and mizutori aren't too hot on Miku avoidances). worry not though, lots of creativity was delivered. it has an HP system that makes it fairly easy to learn. the Benzen + Noesis circles attack is really interesting and is one of my favorite attack concepts to date. it's important to mention that all the bosses get harder on higher difficulties to make them appropriately scale with the difficulty of the needle
overall a masterclass in how adventure games should be made, highly recommended!!

short 25-second easy luck avoidance by everyone’s favorite Series Z 2 co-conspirator Jebal-Ggaera. not a lot to say other than it makes for a quick clear and doesn’t actually require a ton of luck. the fact a luck avoidance can be of this low difficulty sparks a bit of a paradox but I suggest not thinking about it too much because semantics are tiring

despite being vaguely in the shape of the original Hades and carrying the name of an old Slavic god, this game doesn’t qualify as a Hades-like. this is due to the simple reason that the saves are far too long to be a Hades-like. this doesn’t negatively impact the game in any sense, I just want to put on the nerd glasses and point out this misnomer of sorts. the needle itself is fine — Kueriann makes very recognizable needle despite not using gimmicks in this case. in my opinion, his style definitely shines with the inclusion of gimmicks but works even without them. the save balance is alright and the jumps are rather fun. oddly, the tileset fits a Hades-like, yet the needle isn’t of matching style which gives a strange feel to the overall look of the game. additionally, I appreciate that this game doesn’t have a particular reliance on chokejumps

very difficult L-game with some insane saves. to be specific - some saves are obviously insane at a glance, while some look tame but are insane. there are some very hard cancels in here and all the hard saves require them; however surprisingly, nearly all the difficulty stems from one save that has no cancels at all. saves 1, 2 and 3 are what I like to call 'banter saves' in precision. they're saves that just fill up space, just so the maker can throw in something crazy all of a sudden. that happens for the first time in save 4, then directly again but even harder in save 5. I'd confidently say that save 5 makes save 4 look like a banter save in comparison. I don't know what black magic is required to get the right vstring and 1f stutter for the double-sphincter-diamond-whatever-the-fuck-that-even-is. 'black magic' in this case referring to a setup I found - 19f 4p 19f, which seemed to work after about 40 agonizing minutes of jtool testing. this save alone took about 1.5h all things considered. it doesn't help that the jump after isn't exactly easy. I figure I got lucky, only dying to the last jump 4 times. save 6 is probably the most fun save in the game while not being all too difficult. save 7 is banter and save 8 is really interesting, featuring the weirdest combination of planes I've seen yet. save 8 is really annoying due to dumb vstring shit killing you on the last diagonal in the drop (also hand pain, those two cancels are annoying). the last save isn't as hard as it looks and may be one of the easiest saves in the game

two screens of nothing needle and an avoidance with some cool effects, I suppose. not a lot to dodge but it is somewhat fun. it's very easy to first try, even if you aren't that good at avoidance (or videogames in general). title is somewhat misleading - there is no shaking
