For: Christmas Deliveries 2
For: Christmas Deliveries 2
Christmas Deliveries 2 is an overall good Needleventure game as it's predecessor was, and consists of various stages each with their own theme, and most of them having a boss battle at the end. The visuals are spectacular and a highlight of the game, nearly everything seems to be hand drawn by GWiz, and so I can comfortably say that this is one of the best-looking fangames available on Delfruit.
Gameplay-wise, I had some mixed thoughts. A lot of the game held a very unique style of Needle to it, there was never any sense of generic design or over usage of jumps, and most of this is heightened by the inclusion of gimmicks. The bosses are all enjoyable as well, they're all pretty easy for the most part and won't cause a struggle for anyone who mainly plays needle. One of the later stages is particularly interesting because they allow you to pick between gimmicks on each screen. With this said, I do want to mention some of the grievances I had with the game. First of all, the game is pretty damn hard, way more than what I expected. The last two stages are particularly brutal, mainly because of a teleporting line gimmick that makes each save last forever. If this wasn't in the game, I honestly think the game would be almost -10 difficulty overall, and frankly, it really was not fun to do. Another main issue I had was how almost every trigger also basically turned into a forced speed segment, so a lot of times you're just playing saves to each trigger and dying immediately, would be fine with it if there wasn't such an over usage in nearly every stage. On a side note, sometimes it's hard to check what triggers do since the screen turns black after you die, which is pretty undesirable.
These issues aside, I think the game was a lovely Christmas present to the community, and once again a visual masterpiece. Just know that it gets pretty hard near the end of the game, and continues to be so till the credits roll. You'll certainly want decent needle skills to open this present, but if you have them then I definitely recommend it.

For: I wanna afflict the Mashikaku
Afflict the Mashikaku is one of the darling gems of classic adventure games, and very much one of my favorite fangames. So much about it just shows heart and passion, from the custom-made boss sprites to the interesting stages, it's really what you would want from an adventure fangame.
Everything in the game is full of some healthy fun, never really exceeding too much in a difficult jump. The stages are all unique and include some pretty interesting mechanics, such as a giant screen with coins hidden around it, buttons that change your gravity to be upside down or alternate reality itself, a stage that actually features a boss rush and an actually decent ice stage. The bosses are very much the highlight of the game and are all unique and interesting, some of them range from Touhoe-style attacks, some require shooting targets to damage, and there are even some avoidances and infinite jump segments.
Overall, this is a very good fangame, and I highly recommend it to all Adventurers.

For: I wanna be the normal space
For: I wanna be the normal space
Rating based on using 2 HP per boss, which I definitely suggest.
Normal Space is a weird game due to how mixed my reaction to it is, for the most part, it's a chill experience that is pretty typical of the old school eastern game, but then there's one stage near the end that really just makes it feel way less fun than it should.
The game starts with a hub of four worlds, you can choose between one of the first two stages and then the other to unlock the next two. Each of these stages represents that classic feeling, traveling through common locations with typical tilesets like the grasslands and whatnot. Each of them also contains a boss, one of them actually being an avoidance that's pretty decent while the other is just those typical villainous cherries. I never found any of these stages to be unpleasant, except for one in the castle stage that involved shooting a Miniboss enemy in a pretty awkward arena.
What comes after this though is a god-awful boss rush stage, because who doesn't love those. You get to basically fight the previous four bosses again, except now they have been extremely buffed to the point they are basically new fights. That actually sounds interesting right, until you realize just how annoying the buffs made them, specifically on how long the fights are now. They all have I-Frames and can last a couple of minutes each attempt, and of course, are actually pretty difficult now while not actually being fun at all. It is this area I specifically recommend using the Heart Signs for, which allows you to toggle having 2 HP each boss instead of 1. The boss rush also ends with a fifth fight that's actually rather long with a couple of phases and has a pretty RNG final to it at the very end.
Past the boss rush stage the game actually manages to pick up in quality again somewhat, or at the very least it's two needle stages that aren't offensive at all. The visuals are also a lot better here since they're a bit more flashy, though I wish this could have just been applied to the entire game instead. Following the needle comes a final avoidance, and it's pretty decent, and certainly a lot easier than anything that was in boss rush.
Overall, I think Normal Space is a pretty solid game, but know that the boss rush is downright horrible if you choose to only have 1 HP, and still pretty bad in general. I'd recommend the game either way outside of it though.

For: I wanna Restore the Balance
It's an alright adventure game that is both unfinished and full of a lot of janky segments. The vine mechanic in my eyes is just pretty scuffed, if you jump off you can't easily grab the same vine again and there's no actual reason to have it made like that, it makes a lot of segments annoying more than it should. There's also one save on the left area where an absolute ton of flying spikes shoot out while going down a waterfall, this felt both unnecessary and pretty tedious compared to literally anything else in the game.
The bosses are pretty meh as well, the first one tries to utilize the vine gimmick but you don't even actually need to use them to win the fight, just going down every time allows you to dodge whatever you need. The second boss I think is just plain bad, there's too much going on for it to actually be enjoyable at all. You have to worry about the red lane, you have to worry about bullets going up or down the waterfall, you need to worry about the RNG bullets, you need to worry about the retaliation bullets, you need to worry about the spike changing buttons, you need to worry about the eye coming in your line.... you get the point, it's pretty annoying and obsessively designed.
There is hope here though, the game is clearly the foundation of a good adventure game, keep in mind that it is unfinished and says it is ver. 0.5 so I do think this would have had hope to be way better if ever completed. I would definitely be willing to replay the game if more stuff is ever added, and hopefully stuff like Boss 2 or the vines get changed to be better.

Rating based only on the main game, Extra is not recommended.
Piyopiyo Trap is the origin of one of the most famous concepts often used in Medley games: The Dice. And of course if you've played Kamilia 3, you know the screens picked in it probably paint the picture of this being a boring needle game. Throw those preconceptions out the window, as this game is way more interesting than the medleys make it out to be, in fact, I legitimately think K3 used the most boring screens out of the entire game whilst basically everything else is actually unique and cool.
Outside of the two screens you know, the ones you don't are pretty awesome. There's one stage that has solid color blocks that make a visually cute stage with some fun segments, as well as a block toggle gimmick that flips different colors on or off. There's one stage based on luck, however, it's not actually that hard with the most crazy being a 1 in 4 chance, plus an actually unique boss that shows off the very first edition of The Dice. Other stages include a casino card themed tileset, and there's even a Windows 7 stage that is awesome, here's a screen from it that might convince you to play this: https://i.imgur.com/Y9nnQMk.png Do be aware that there is a bit of a language barrier at some points, but I think most of it you can pick up pretty quickly anyways without ever needing a video or translation.
This game also contains extra, but as the start of this review mentions, I really don't recommend it. Some of it involves falling down a chute and shooting small targets, with you having to reset if you miss even one of them. There's a long trap segment as well that's more than one screen per save so be warned of that too. And of course, the legendary K3 Luck Crystal is in this too, with a required luck draw harder than 1 in 1000 in order to beat the stage. If you do extra, just be sure to check all the warps before committing, as it's pretty guaranteed to have at least one stage you will hate.
Overall though, the main game is one of the most interesting classic fangames, and probably one of the better things featured in K3, even if it sadly represented it pretty horribly.
