I was pleasantly surprised by this one, Irkara Needle is charming climb through a tall, nearly 100 floor tall needle tower, clearing inspired by various fangames, mostly the first two Crimson Needle games, but also with hints of NANG, Kamilia 3, and more. For a 100f needle game, there's a robust amount of content, with the main game, plus hidden achievements, boss fights, and an extra stage. While nothing in the game truly blew me away, I really had fun with it throughout, with very few saves or jumps sticking out as annoying. Something about this needle style just clicks with me, and it just feels good to play. I think the secret bosses are the least interesting point of the game, they all feel kinda underbaked, especially the third one, but the final boss is pretty cool, it's a crimson fight which is a lot easier than the needle but it's still fun. Difficulty balance is a bit all over the place, but nothing truly egregious to me. Extra was also a fun bonus, and a cool way to cap off the whole thing. All in all while it's nothing that's gonna change how you view needle as a genre in it's entirety, Irkara was fun for me at least, and is some of my favorite non-gimmick needle I've played!

For: I wanna be the Popularity
This review is based on a clear of Very Hard Mode
Popularity is a pretty well known fangame, and one of it's makers, eden, is pretty infamous in the community for the kinds of things he creates, popularity demonstrating his diabolical ideas. While there are easier difficulties in the form of medium and hard, the former of which I did end up playing and enjoyed, they are definitely not what the game is known, likely due to the kamilia games making the Very Hard final boss pretty well known. On Very Hard popularity becomes one of the biggest tests of patience and skill, not just skill in needle or avoidance, but skill in incredibly niche gimmicks you only really see in much easier adventure fangames. This creates super unique gameplay on this mode, which is definitely gonna challenge basically anyone. The best stage was the Kirby stage for me, as the gimmick is super hilarious and leads to really entertaining situations, plus it's super satisfying to clear a screen. There's definitely some weak points, like the weezing boss, and the dragon quest 2 stage, but also some high points throughout, with lots of memorable sections and bosses. The true final boss, Gravityman, is a fight that I used to hate whenever I played him in the Kamilia games, but I actually was quite fond of him, likely due to me having finally adapted to the boss. It's very tough however, but a very satisfying clear, much like the rest of the game. It's extremely far from perfect, but I really think this game is good, and worth playing at some point in your fangame lifespan.

Fantastic Rukito influenced game, it definitely morphs into it's own thing but the influences are obvious and appreciated from someone who likes that style of needle. The triggers are interesting and there's a lot of really cool gimmicks that enhance the needle. The whole game has this sense of flow which is really cool, the highlight of the experience was probably the gravity flipping water, as that gimmick felt super good to master and play around with. There's even some cute jokes all over the game! Definitely recommended for anyone who enjoys some trigger needle.

For: I wanna kill the Kamilia 2 WARPED
For: I wanna kill the Kamilia 2 WARPED
This review is based on a 100% Clear
Kamilia 2 WARPED is a very strange game, very clearly being a joke as it uses Kamilia 3 gimmicks to offer a somewhat unique experience with the original game. Despite the jokey undertones however, I think the game succeeds at being enjoyable, far more so for me than the original Kamilia 2. The platforming is probably the thing that stands out the most on a first glance, every screen has the same visuals, the K3 Stage 5 blocks and grid background, which is a little jarring. However there are often some pretty interesting changes to the gameplay, the main highlights platforming wise are the odd-numbering stages, with the conveyors, ice, and trigger needle gimmicks. Particularly stage 5 was a really good experience, and was suprisingly inventive. The other platforming is probably the weak point of the game, with stages 2 and 4 being sort of annoying, and stage 6 being very uninteresting, as it's "gimmick" is that it's a slightly buffed kamilia 2 stage 6.
The game truly shines in it's bosses, with the exception of maybe crimson and destination, I think all of these bosses actually enhance the original versions, being far more interesting and less boring. The biggest glow-up to me is easily Solgryn, who went from one the weakest points in K2, to one of the absolute highlights of this game for me. I also think the changes made to Nue were really cool, that fight definitely sticks out in my head. I would say Gravityman is a bit rough, he's definitely a difficulty spike and kind of a big barrier to the rest of the game, but he's kind of like that in regular K2 as well. The final boss was a good conclusion, while many seem to dislike it, I was quite fond of it.
The extra content is kind of strange, feeling like an entirely different game, but I really liked basically everything here. DJ Sray and Mario are kind of just silly, but the three avoidances offered by this part of the game were great, particularly Redire's version of Bottomless Abyss, which is one of my favorite avoidances despite the fact I had a relatively rough time with it. Len and Miku were also quite enjoyable, but not to the same degree. My biggest complaint about extra is that I wish there was a little more interesting platforming.
All in all, I'd actually recommend people try this game, I think it's worth playing especially considering how often it's dismissed by many community members, and for good reason. The time I had with it was great, memorable, and I'm glad I stuck with it. Great stuff here!
